Argh OPKs are driving me INSANE!!!

I've been using OPKs to try and track ovulation for the last two cycles. Haven't had a positive yet even though my CM has suggested ovulation around CD 14/15 each month (I have 28 day cycles so that makes sense). But not a single positive OPK even when I use them several times a day. The line will fade for a few days, then darken again a bit... just got a pretty dark one again today even though I'm pretty sure I ovulated about a week ago. CM is dry and creamy today too so not fertile looking (sorry if TMI!) They are worse than useless at the moment because they are making me stress that I'm not actually ovulating.

Anyway - OPK sticks - arghhh!

Have you considered getting a 21 day blood test? It might help confirm either way so you know what to do next.

Oysterbabe · 13/04/2015 13:19

Are you temping? This will help reassure you re ovulation.

Lolipoplady · 13/04/2015 15:40

Thank you for your advice :) I'm not temping, will be doing that next cycle presuming that I haven't actually conceived this time round. I thought the opks would give me the info I needed but it appears not.

I'm guessing that if I haven't conceived in a few months time, and temping doesn't show an ovulatory temperature rise, then that might be a good time to go to the GP?

I never got a positive on an OPK, not the cheap kind or the more expensive. I was trying for 6 months. A 21 day blood test showed I was in fact ovulating on the month I fell pregnant with DD. so no advice really other than that I don't think they work for everyone.

Lolipoplady · 14/04/2015 21:08

Thanks staircase, that's good to know :) Fingers crossed everything is fine for me as it was for you. Did you feel worried/frustrated that you weren't getting positives at all?

Hi Lolipop
I've been using opk's for about 5 months now (TTC for 19 months) and have never had a positive. I have had a very slight, very faint, if you squint you can see it line but never even half as dark as the control line and I believe not to be ovulating. I have no cm either. I have had in the past before I started taking the tests. Argh indeed!!! So frustrating. Others have suggested I use the more expensive clear blue ones which are £20 for a months course. If the ones I have from amazon don't show anything this month I'll consider them for next time, although if you're not ovulating I don't suppose how much you spend on tests will help. I've started using soy this month so hoping that will help and hoping to get clomid some time soon..... Good luck to you.

Hi can I join? I've been ttc no.2 after 9yrs. Using cbfm but this mth has been weird. On day 19 today of my 28day cycle and since day 7 Ive had highs everyday but no peak??

MrsPCR · 27/04/2015 19:12

I'm on cycle 2 and used OPKs last month. My cycles have been 32 and 28 last month. I did an OPK on CD4 and it was definitely positive. After that, got a positive on CD13 and an almost positive on CD 15 and had all the signs of ov on CD16. So who knows! Temping this month too to see if the two might match but feel more lost from the OPKs.
