Lulu he's 5 and a half weeks Smile So nice that you'll have some some family nearby!
Was your course the one by the life saving charity? Forgot the name but they have blue t shirts Grin
Cupcake I forgot to say how lovely it must be feeling those kicks! It rely cheered me up when I was having a bad day and felt DS kicking Smile
Ducky that baby food sounds tasty - I'd eat it Grin And omg I can't believe your mat leave is nearly over! Are you getting statutory mat pay from your job? Can't you extend it? I have to go back to work when DS is 6 months too Sad I'm only getting mat allowance. I really hope I can find a part time job where I can still spend lots of time with DS.
What are you planning to do about childcare? I think it's sad so many mums can't spend longer on mat leave - babies really need their mummies to be about Sad

Ducky23 · 26/05/2015 19:34

I got accepted for vol redundancy Grin

It worked out good for me, I didn't want to go back, I was really unhappy there and it's a really stressful job which isn't 'safe' (I've been through so many redundancy things since I have been there, I think every year!), so it just means I get an extra payment!

I know I would have been worse of if I went back as I would of had to pay childcare and a lot of travel costs and it's long hours (even part time) but I'm just panicking about not having that income of my own. I'm going to see how we get on and if I must il have to get something part time Confused

Lillamyy1 · 26/05/2015 20:13

Oh cool! That worked out well Smile I hope you manage!

Cupcake92 · 26/05/2015 21:49

Aw all these babies starting solids makes u realise how much time has flown by! And how long this thread has been going! Grin

Ducky I'll have to go back when DS2 is 6 months also :( so don't want to as I had a year off with DS (after going back when he was 6months but he got very ill so I had the rest of the year off) there's no way I'm gonna be able to afford childcare for 2 children tho :s but I have to go back as being on my own there's no one else to support me :s so I'd literally have no income. Gosh lol

Lill I'll only be on mat allowance too as not been at job long enough to qualify for statutory mat pay. Last time I was on mat allowance and got £250 every 2 weeks it was shocking! But I'd get a lot less this time as I'm only doing 2 days a week so earning less, I'd get about £130 every 2 weeks or something ridiculous like that :/

Wish we got paid to be full time mommies !! Grin it's a job after all!

Ducky23 · 26/05/2015 22:24

Oh no cupcake Confused I still couldn't imagine leaving ds! And he doesn't sleep through so I'm so tierd in the day I don't think id be able to cope with working!

I will miss work but I was so unhappy there, and I wouldn't be better off for going.

H doesn't earn much so in just really hoping were ok. Fingers crossed!

We're entitled to tax credits because DP doesn't earn much but he hasn't got round to applying Hmm

LuluJakey1 · 26/05/2015 23:49

Everyone is in bed. DH is asleep. If SIL and fiance don't get pregnant in the next year I'll be amazed. They have been all soppy over DS- who has loved it. I can't see them waiting long.

And they want to get married really quietly- registry office with both lots of parents, us and his sister and her husband and the grandmas- our two and he's got one and DS.
It's in August. They have booked it- funny time but it was all they could get. 4 in the afternoon on a Tuesday. So I reckon that will warrant a new dress, although I got a really nice one last summer for a wedding and only wore it once before it wouldn't fit.

It's all exciting!

LuluJakey1 · 27/05/2015 00:03

Am just lying here in the dark. The moon is huge outside our bedroom and it is lighting up the sky around it navy blue. Very pretty.

We were thinking of going to France in August. Wedding isn't until near the end so I suppose we could go earlier on. I am a bit worried about taking DS abroad- which is stupid I know because there are lots of babies on France and it isn't exactly an undeveloped country. I just feel he'd be safer in Norfolk or Wales or somewhere when he is this little. And it is a very long drive to the bit we go to.

Norfolk is just 2 1/2 hours.

Cupcake92 · 27/05/2015 08:14

They are still only little babies at 6 months aren't they Ducky. It's only recently I've liked work lol Grin only cuz DS is now at that age of tantrums and being crazy, work is my break now Grin

Gosh Lulu they are getting married quickly! I guess there's no point waiting around if they are moving in with each other :) and I bet DS would love France! The only place I took DS when he was about 6 months old was Skegness Hmm it was awful!! Not because of DS he was fine and loved swimming etc but Skegness was just horrible and I certainly won't be going back there! Was a 2 hour journey, I stopped after and hour and got DS out his car seat for a wiggle and then fed him a bottle before setting off again. It wasn't too bad, he slept In the car the whole time :) I wouldn't worry too much about the journey Lulu, they say every 2 hours u need to get babies out of a car seat. But that wouldn't be too bad :)

I'm going away with my mom on the 5th June I think, to Whitby. Should be nice if the weather stays sunny :)

Ducky23 · 27/05/2015 08:51

Lulu maybe she's already pregnant! Grin Maybe she's marrying before her bump gets too big and they have a baby Grin or am I just getting carried away?

I can imagine at that age is when the tantrums come regularly isn't it cupcake? Grin

OP posts:
Bearsinmotion · 27/05/2015 09:40

Never heard that about babies in car seats for two hours Shock. DD has been at least four hours a few times when we've driven to Scotland!

Cupcake92 · 27/05/2015 09:42

Oh Ducky... Honestly it can be awful! Grin over the slightest thing as well! Like him trying to eat dinner but not being able to keep something on his fork, he goes crazy and ends up throwing the fork! Grin tho he's got very good at saying sorry and giving a hug after which I guess is a good thing! Grin

Cupcake92 · 27/05/2015 09:46

X post bears! I think it's under 6 months old they can't be in longer than 2 hours because of their spines. They are supposed to lie flat as spines aren't strong enough. I know they say it's not too bad once they can sit up on their own without support, but before that only 2 hours max in a car seat.

LuluJakey1 · 27/05/2015 22:44

Ducky, no she definitely isn't- DH asked outright and she said they are going to start trying once get settled in the house. He's so nosey! I would have told him to mind his own business but he just asks the most personal questions. When boyfriend had gone to the bank this morning, DH asked her if she has gone off women altogether. She said it isn't like that, she just wants to be with boyfriend- that is who she feels committed to and loves. Then she asked him if he has gone off women altogether and he said no but he does not think about other women since we met, he never wants anyone else (Aww!) She said it is just the same for her. I was listening from the kitchen. He said he didn't know if he would ever feel secure if he was the boyfriend. She asked if he feels secure with me and he said yes but if he was the boyfriend he would have the whole population to worry about, not just men. She said she has never fancied the whole population, just a few people out of the 80 million or so that are the population. Then she told him he is a plank and she has no idea what I see in him and they were laughing at each other.

The house will be great once they have decorated. The current owners have different taste to them, it's all big flowery metallic wallpaper and dark carpets. They will have lots of white and wooden floors and rugs.

DS has tucked into his baby rice, pureed vegetables, banana and some strips of soft melon. He seems to like everything. He got his hand in the baby rice and put it in his mouth and sucked it. The vegetables ended up all over his face but he liked them. Smile Nappies are more yucky!

We aren't going to France, we are going to get a cottage somewhere like Norfolk or Wales. It's just easier and we can take lots of things with us for DS.

LuluJakey1 · 27/05/2015 23:12

Cupcake, I read something about SPD. I had no idea it could be so bad. Hope you get an appointment quickly. Did the Dr sign you off work? I am dreading tantrums. DS has a pet lip now that appears when he is about to cry, pet lip out, face screws up, mouth opens and then he wails. It is quite cute really. DH pulls the same face at him and he laughs. I am not looking forward to temper tantrums. Do all children have them about 2-3?

Ducky23 · 28/05/2015 06:42

Aww cupcake! Good he says sorry, bet he just gets frustrated Grin

Lulu, how lovely for your SIL Smile and I bet ds will love his first holiday!

We had a bad night last night Hmm I don't know why but ds woke up at 2am and was just squealing to himself so I couldn't sleep. I don't know if he slept between then and now, I'm too tierd! Will be upping the food today I think! Banana and baby rice for breakfast and sweet potato for lunch I think. He has a special dairy free butter too Grin I have a sore throat now too Hmm I think it's just cus I'm not getting enough sleep. I just really hope ds doesn't get it, he's still getting over his last cold Hmm

Cupcake92 · 28/05/2015 06:52

Aww Lulu that's so nice for ur SIL :) she seems very happy with the boyfriend.
And ur DS seems to be coping with weaning very well! :)

Lulu the tantrums start at 1 year old! Lol! They just seems to get worse and more demanding by 2 years Grin more disapline is needed I think around 2. They have to start understanding what not to do and what's bad and what's good.
As for the spd, (she called it pelvic girdle pain) I wasn't signed off work as I'm only sat down at a computer so she said I should be okay. I should get my physio letter this week as it was an urgent referral.
But I'm in so much pain this morning, it was agony last night sleeping :( I couldn't sleep on one side for more than 5 minutes.

Ducky frustration does play a big part bless him Grin have u tried giving DS something filling like porridge after his last bottle of the night? My HV advised me to give DS some baby porridge after his last bottle as it would help him sleep much better. And. It did work he slept a good few hours longer. Could be worth a try :)

Ducky23 · 28/05/2015 07:30

Hope it comes through cupcake! And really hope it helps! Must be horrible for you!

I haven't tried ds with anything at night yet, what time would you give him the porridge? I'm going to start him on dinner next week. Dietitian said she wanted him having 3 small meals by the time she sees him next which is just over 2 months. I was looking at the porridge the other day (the Ella's kitchen one) but I didn't get any because she hadn't sent the letter saying what ds couldn't have so I'm just sticking at fruit and veg really til that comes through, but that's not filling really is it?

Lillamyy1 · 28/05/2015 09:59

Sorry to hear you had bad nights Ducky and Cupcake. I hope tonight is better for both of you! I didn't manage to get to bed very early last night (10 as opposed to 8 which is what I aim for) so I'm hoping DS will go back to sleep so I can have a nap! He wasn't awake for too long each time he woke up in the night, but DP is at work all day today and I don't know if I can handle the whole day on my own if I don't get another hour or so in!
He's very lively this morning, smiling and grunting and kicking about. He smiles and 'talks' to me quite a lot now when he's awake but he prefers to talk to the pictures on the wall!! Grin

Bearsinmotion · 28/05/2015 10:07

Lulu tantrums aren't inevitable, DD never really did them. I think it's just luck whether they do or not, although DP puts it down to my our excellent parenting!

Hope you get some more sleep Lil!

Lillamyy1 · 28/05/2015 10:08

Here he is grinning away! You'd never think he'd been up most of the night Grin

Lillamyy1 · 28/05/2015 11:09

I wonder how Tori's getting on? We haven't heard from her since she have birth have we?

Bearsinmotion · 28/05/2015 12:11

He's a cheeky looking boy!

Ducky23 · 28/05/2015 12:17

So cute lil! And love his hair!

Yes I was thinking of tori earlier. Maybe she has her hands full! Grin

Just about to sort ds lunch, he has sweet potato mash, steamed carrot and broccoli to try Smile

OP posts:
Ducky23 · 28/05/2015 13:42

Omg. Ds LOVED his lunch!

He wasn't to keen on the broccoli but he couldn't get enough of the sweet potato or carrots! He even chewed the carrot!

Then he got carried away and flinged his plate across the room, food went everywhere! All over the cleanup crew dogs. They enjoyed it too Grin
