Right, im having a bit of a panic and its too early to POAS.

Last Sunday (29th) DH and I DTD. On Tuesday (31st) I forgot to take my pill (Cerazette). Usually, if I forget to take my pill, within 48hrs I have a bleed. This time I didn't. Could any of his swimmers have been lurking around, and I have ovulated due to missed pill, and therefore conceived?

When we previously decided to TTC, I stopped my pill and must have ovulated almost immediately as I tested positive less than 3 weeks later. My pregnancy was dated from 2 days after the last day I took the pill.

Also, I have a visible blood vessel on my face, which is usually quite small, but got massive when I was pregnant and it looks like it has started to come up again which is making me think that I could be pregnant?

I hadn't really thought anything of missing a pill AFTER sex, but now im wondering.....

Can anyone advise?

It's unlikely because the pill stops your ovaries maturing an egg and that takes time so you are not likely to ovulate immediately after forgetting a pill.

Secondly, the pill thickens up the cervical mucus making it very hostile to sperm. They are not likely to even get into the cervix without dying en route.

you just need to observe the rule about avoiding unprotected sex for the requisite number of days (usually 7) just in case.

But you can still ovulate on my pill Roly, and clearly last time I ovulated straight away after stopping the pill as I was pregnant within days of coming off of it.

I know its really very unlikely that im pregnant though. But if I haven't had a period by the middle of next week ill have to test to make sure.

I think Roly's reply was spot on. If you think you know better don't post a question!
The only way to know is to do a test. No amount of analysing will change the outcome.
Hope you get the result you want.

It's possible, I fell pregnant without missing a pill so you could fall pregnant when you have missed one.

Number3cometome · 08/04/2015 14:55

The question is, do you want to get pregnant?

If not

  1. Did you take your pill as soon as you realised?
  2. why didn't you take the morning after pill?

I am surprised you have a bleed within one missed pill of cerazette, I had nothing for 7 years!

(it did take me 3 months to conceive and I did not ovulate for the first 2 months - had day 21 progesterone tests)

Sorry size I didn't realise I wasn't allowed to converse Hmm

Obviously not trying to get pregnant but it would be a happy accident if I was.

I didn't take the MAP because I didn't really think much of missing a pill AFTER sex and we don't DTD that often at the moment anyway so not thinking. About extra precautions for a week etc etc.

It was only because I realised that I hadn't bled after my missed pill when I normally do that I started to wonder.

I will test next week to be sure but I know it's unlikely as I said above.

Sizethree - I think you are being a bit rough with your reply. Roly, whilst not completely wrong, is not completely correct. You can get pregnant whilst taking the Cerazette pills completely reliably, and also as the website also says, "Ovulation is inhibited for up to 36 hours, giving Cerazette a 'missed pill' window of 12 hours1 that is comparable to combined oral contraceptives (COCs).5,6." Ovulation is inhibited but this does not mean that you can't ovulate within a short time after missing a pill or stopping them.

Since sperm can theoretically survive for 7 days after intercourse, and you missed a pill a couple of days later, then whilst highly unlikely (due to the Cerazette increasing the viscosity of the cervical mucus, making it less penetrable by sperm), it is still remotely possible. It is possible to get pregnant without missing any pills too, again it is only remotely possible.

I hope that you get the reassurance you hope for soon.

basin it's just that you seemed a snippy at someone who's taken time to reply to you.
Samr at me actually.
Carry on. May be pregnancy hormones.

BasinHaircut · 08/04/2015 19:30

Applies if I came across as snappy, I was just questioning the point in not being able to mature an egg. Because in that case one of my non-mature eggs is now 20 months old! I fell pregnant so easily last time that it just doesn't seem like it's outside the realms of possibility.

I guess I jut wanted to discuss it but not with anyone in RL.
