hi everyone

I'm new to Mumsnet so don't quite get what all the short slang means ie TTC.

So this will be our first baby :) I haven't been taking any form of contraception for nearly 2 years we have just been carefully (or sex has been non existent) we haven't been "properly" trying as the husband is still a bit nervous about doing the deed lol however a bit of sperm maybe leaked the day before I ovulated.... I'm trying not to be excited as I know it's going to take more than that! I'm due on any day and I feel like my ovaries are aching and I have tender breasts but no actual period pains yet! So annoying that pregnancy symptoms are the same as period symptoms!!

:( did anyone on here get pregnant first time trying?

Hi Charm,
I'm also new here (just joined today!) so thought I'd say 'hi' and I also don't understand any of the short slangs!
You sound a bit like me and my husband - we've been talking about starting a family for nearly a year (it has taken me a lot longer to get my head around the idea than my husband, surprisingly lol) so we have also been 'very careful' about sex and things until we had properly decided :) We are going to start ttc in the next few weeks, but I'm still quite daunted and overwhelmed by everything - just so much information and things to consider!
I have found just googling my 'silly' questions have helped ease my fears a lot and have found the NHS website pregnancy/conception pages really helpful.
The other really helpful thing I've found is the 'period tracker' app (you can download the free version, which I used for many months or it's about £1.50 for the full version) and it's really very good for tracking ovulation and your symptoms of ovulation/fertile days.
Are you taking folic acid? I've been taking pregnacare 'original' which has folic acid and other vits for the last month or so as it says it's for before pregnancy and you can take throughout all of pregnancy.
Anyhoo, I have rambled too long now :) Good luck and hope to chat to you more on the boards :)
Camello :)

Hello!

I have the period tracker app too this will be the 2nd month tracking. I'm hoping i won't take too long to fall :( I'm starting to get period pains now so im certain the 'leakage' hasn't got me pregnant!!

Yes I've been taking the folic acid for a few weeks now and I've recently started back at the gym and hearing as good as I can to prepare myself!

Xx

Sounds like we're all at a similar stage! I've had 1 cycle off the pill and am tracking ovulation using cheap OPK's. Tbh after being on the pill for so long it's more confirming O as I can tell just from how I feel Blush my body seems to know when it's time to try. I'm just really hoping I'm actually ovulating and not just having an LH spike. My sister had an FSH deficiency so wasn't ovulating and worried the same will happen to me, but still have enough of an LH surge to look like I am ovulating Hmm
