Babies in car

I have a 5 month old baby and often worry about the rules on paying for petrol when I have my daughter in the car. Is it safe to leave her asleep in the back of the car with the car locked while I pay ? Or am I expected to take her out of her car seat and carry her across the forecourt. What do most mums on here do? Is it really frowned upon to leave them in the car for a few minutes while I pay for petrol?

I go to a place that has Pay at the Pump.

I have to admit, seeing this posted in 'conception' did make me think it would be an entirely different thread! Grin

I would say providing you can see there's not a long queue it should be fine or ideally, find a station where you can pay at the pump.

I either pay at pump or lock my DD in the car. Generally me and DH will fill up the car when she's not around to avoid the issue!
