My DP and I are both getting broody. We both have two DC each. DC aged between 2 and 7, so quite a young family as it is. we've been together over a year and talk about commitment/marriage/babies all the time now (in a very lovely way).

My head is saying wait, because why not? But my heart is saying do it soon (within this year) if we actually want to, because we are in the thick of young family stuff anyway, I am young and physically fit, and we are in a position to.

BUT: my biggest worry is he is 10 years older than me (I'm 32). What do you know about risks when the man is older please? I know risks for women increase with age for miscarriage and birth complications etc. Are there bigger risks if the dad is older?

If we wait 2-3 years will we be in a more risky position or not?

Hi choco I am no expert but I did read the other day that risk of miscarriage increases the older the guy is. Also I believe that they are more likely to pass on genetic mutations if older. However plenty of older men go on to have perfectly healthy babies! Good luck :)

My DH is 12 yrs older than me and older than yours..we have 3 healthy dc.. I've had one miscarriage but no evidence that was due to him more than me!
