Right ladies. Question about sperm! My GP says that you should dtd EOD in order to allow the sperm to regenerate. What I'm wondering though us about the quality of sperm if you only DtD erratically? If we don't have sex before ovulation and then would the sperm be ok when they are released? Or is that first one a wasted session? do we need a few warm up sessions before we need to start drowning the egg? Any thoughts appreciated!

Boris, you definitely need to dtd before ov to get rid of the old ones. I think 4 days is the longest they should be left for but I'm sure Purdey knows also I guess it depends how good your dh's sperm are. I've been thinking of the whole eod thing for the very reason that's dp's sperm count is low and I'm not they replenish quickly enough when we dtd daily over ov! It's all so bloody difficult!,

Bozzer, it's not good at all for sperm if it is allowed to build up. The first thing my IVF clinic said to us when I told them we were hardly having sex with all the pressure of it weighing down on us was that DH must masturbate every three days in the weeks leading up to him giving his sample for the donor's eggs. They said the sperm would be very poor if he hadn't ejaculated regularly. This is why fertility specialists don't like charts and opks; they don't like the idea that we are all concentrating our efforts over a five-day period and abandoning sex the rest of the month which, let's face it, we are It's really bad for sperm quality.

I have a spot on my chin the size of Mount Etna. I don't normally get them at this time of month, so am taking it as a sign that I am pregnant. It is definitely not because I was too tired to take my make up off the other day.

Hubby was away for 6 days but popped home a couple of evening to see tot and eod it as I am a loser and worry about how many months post lap and dye we have before it's effects have worn off!

I think body has kicked itself into gear. Bad ovary pain tonight and near on positive opk so let's pray for a smiley peak face tomorrow to the fertility gods of somewhere. At least that would mean cd23 ov plus 12 is only a 35 day cycle

Boris, there were no girls at my school who got pregnant the first time they had sex, and there were a lot of little slags in the fifth year (Year 11 nowadays). I'm sure it's largely anecdotal that it happens so easily when it's your first time. How unlucky would you have to be? Mind you, young lads' sperm probably lasts five days, unlike today's thirty-something knackered out, drinks-too-much sloths.
