Hi,

I was diagnosed with PCOS aged 15. Im now 30 and DH and i have been TTC since since September but scans and blood tests have confirmed that I'm not ovulating Sad
I have been referred to a fertility clinic by my GP but 9 weeks on I'm still waiting for an appointment and I'm getting impatient!

I've read a lot of research about the benefits of myo inositol for PCOS sufferers and am keen to hear others experiences whether positive or negative.

I have a BMI of 18 and no diabetes, but I do have some on the other classic PCOS symptoms such as excess hair and very long (60 day +) cycles.

Any experiences welcome! Smile

Hello!!

I don't have experience on it but I have just ordered some for myself.

I have just been diagnosed with pcos after 6 months off the pill and still no period. Completely gutted of course but there are worse things to be diagnosed with right!? Trying not to let it beat me. Just startrd with Angus castus too and bought myself a thermometer to check temps. I don't think I have ovulated since coming off the pill but don't want to miss it.

I am hoping for a referral at my next gp appointment but like you expecting a long wait! Xxx

I've just started it too (Tuesday I think) obv no idea if it works but since I haven't had a period 6 months I'm giving it a go!

SolomanDaisy · 28/03/2015 22:24

I got pregnant after taking it for six months (along with agnus castus). We'd been trying for four years.

RoseBud2015 · 29/03/2015 11:22

Hi Gin!

How much myo inositol are you planning to take each day? Did you order the powder or pills?

I've read some bits about Angus cactus too. But have read very mixed reviews so far. Like you, all I want to do is ovulate and give us a fighting chance of conceiving! So frustrating!

Hi Bucket How much are you taking? Are you taking it along any other supplements? Fingers crossed it does the trick for you! Smile

Congratulations Solomon!!! It obviously helped you to ov. What other affects did you find it had? X

Hi RoseBud I'm taking 4g a day (or the powder, about 1/4 of a teaspoon) alongside folic acid (I can hope!)

SolomanDaisy · 29/03/2015 12:20

My periods became regular, my luteal phase a little shorter (from 16 to 14 days), my PMS disappeared and I found it easier to lose weight. I had been ovulating, but it was irregular. I'd also had a previous miscarriage. I'd recommend only reading articles on PubMed, to get accurate information. There's a lot of nonsense on other websites!

Ginfizz90 · 29/03/2015 16:20

It's in the post as we speak. Meant to arrive on Tuesday but I ordered the powder, it's means to be 4grams in water. Looking forward to try it, hoping it will bring my period back

Rufus200 · 29/03/2015 20:12

I started it beginning of December, taking 1000mg twice a day in tablet form. Took till Feb to start to notice a difference but it has definitely changed my metabolism! On cycle 3 in the 2ww now.

StrawbRhi · 29/03/2015 20:13

Hi,
I've been taking 3600mg inositol and 90mg d-chiro for 2 months and I can confidently say that it's changed everything.
I had a 187 day cycle when I started the inositol, and my period arrived literally 3 days after! The following cycle was a much more respectable 32 day with an LP of 14 days. The most normal I've ever had. This cycle is shaping up to be just as brilliant, I'm ovulating today on cd 17.
I temp and I've noticed that my temps are much more stable. Before inositol they were very rocky and it was hard to pinpoint if and when OV happened.

I have PCOS, diagnosed at 18 (29 now) and have done 6 rounds of clomid. I only achieved ovulation on 150mg which resulted in pregnancy but mc at 6 weeks. Metformin had no effect on me even at 2000mg!

I have also joined slimming world and I've lost just under 2 stone since jan which will be a contributing factor but considering that I'm still 19st 10lbs, I'm certain that the inositol is the cause of ovulation.

The added bonus is that it's evened out my moods and I'm nowhere near as fatigued as I used to be.

Ginfizz90 · 29/03/2015 20:31

So happy to hear positive stories with this. Honestly cannot wait to try it now

RoseBud2015 · 29/03/2015 22:56

Thank you for the heads up on the website Soloman- very interesting reading!

Sorry to hear about your mcs Soloman and Straw Flowers TTC really is shit at times! Fingers crossed you are successful soon Straw- it certainly sounds like you are going in the right direction! Your story is really encouraging Smile

Rufus fx for your is cycle! Keep us updated!

The info from PubMed and the stories of you lovely lot have confirmed in my mind that it might be time to give it a go! I'm not sure there is anything to lose at this stage! Now it's just deciding which company to buy from on Amazon.

Also one final question- on Amazon the myo inositol products say "take 1/4 teaspoon = 600mg" but yet you ladies are saying between 2000mg and 4000mg a day...... am I being thick or do these figures differ dramatically?? Hmm

Do I ignore the guidelines on the tub and go with the 4000mg that the research suggests? Confused

OP posts:
Ginfizz90 · 30/03/2015 00:28

Rosebud- I was confused aswell, think the guide on the package says
4grams a day, so that would be 4000mg right? My maths is terrible but that's how I understood it.

RoseBud2015 · 30/03/2015 15:21

I'm glad its not just me Gin! Blush

Which version did you order? What company is i I'm struggling to find the one that says 4g in a day Confused

I ordered this

Hazzyhaze · 18/11/2019 00:05

I have been diagnosed with PCOS and i started taking inositol pills with sundown folic acid and I've realized that my excessive hair growth in armpits and legs are growing slower than usual since taking it. I just started taking it for about a week and a half now and i can see that its helped with hormonal balance big time! My only concern is for those who have taken it before and got pregnant how long did it take for you to get your period? And pregnant? My fiancé and i have been TTC but I've always been infertile and it makes me feel insecure of myself because of it.

ckc45d10 · 18/11/2019 14:49

Have you also considered CoQ10? There is some research on it for PCOS support: onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/cen.13288/full
