Looking for a Mum-to-be to buddy up! I'm TTC number 1 and not had any luck so far, having a couple of months off before we start trying again. x

Well my tactics this month is to dtd every 2 days between 2nd and 14th of April (ish) as I'm due to ovulate about the 8th and seem to be pretty regular. Hopefully that should defo cover the key days whenever they fall!

I've got about 5 clearblue ov sticks left over to use up too so started them yesterday but not too bothered about the sticks this month- have been using them since December and no luck as yet.

VioletIbiza88 · 05/04/2015 17:25

Does anyone know for how many days the sperm can survive inside waiting for ovulation? We started dtd marathon today, and will do tomorrow but then will have to miss tues, wed and thurs, as thats when OH is away. My phone thinks ov will be next monday but i think it could be earlier than that, as its only the third proper cycle post pill, so don't think everything regulated itself yet. Hopefully ive still got a chance, with only friday to mondays??

Issie - that sounds like a good plan,.

Nicky - ive got ovia but i find it a bit confusing tbh, its the one with the wheel isn't it. Ive got another, thats just called my calender and that one seems easier to use.

nickynackynoo31 · 05/04/2015 18:02

I think it's about 72 hours.

I have one where it maps it out on like a chart and the high chance of pregnancy the higher the block is on the chart. it's quite a good one. I've got samsung s4 so may vary from phone to phone x

Issie339 · 05/04/2015 19:49

Ooh those apps sound good, I feel left out that I don't have an app, I may have to download one.

Nicky's right, sperm can survive for ages, I'm sure I read that they can survive up to 5 days inside your body so you've definitely still got a good chance this month Violet.

Has anyone changed their diet, or stopped eating/drinking certain things? I don't really drink alcohol that often, usually only when we visit my dad actually, so not sure how I will explain that one away yet! I'm limiting coffee to one cup a day, normally its about 3 or 4, and started taking folic acid at the beginning of March.

Also does anyone in your real lives know you are trying? No one knows we are trying yet and think it would put more pressure on if people knew. My two best friends think were starting trying in December, one of them I may enlighten in the near future, or I may just wait for that bfp fx! So its nice to chat here about things, with other people doing the same!

I like the app Issie, as I'm not using opks it gives me something to work out ov from, and if youve recorded your cycles for a while it should be pretty accurate.

Nicky on my phone its this spinny wheel thing, and a really hard to work out calender, with all these different sorts of flowers on, and i cant work out what flowers means what lol!

CuppaSarah · 05/04/2015 22:23

I know that app violet! I found it too hard to read and got fertility friend instead. You get a free month on the premium version too which is nice.

nickynackynoo31 · 06/04/2015 14:05

I think there's a lot of apps about. I've had about 6 different ones in space of a week lol.
mines working for me at minute so we shall see.

I haven't changed anything diet wise really....taking folic acid but that's about it.

just got fingers crossed now as according to app today is the day to start the dtd marathon Wink .

Issie339 · 06/04/2015 15:35

The only thing I've changed diet wise is I've cut down on my coffee- limiting myself to 1 coffee shop cup (medium) a day now. I don't really drunk much alcohol anyway. I'm also taking folic.

Does anyone else go on to those online due date calculators and work out what their due date will be if they get pregnant this cycle? Blush I know I shouldn't but I can't resist! If I get my bfp this cycle my due date will be Dec 31st apparently.

nickynackynoo31 · 06/04/2015 16:39

Haha yes I do that (glad I'm not only one)

my edd with this cycle would be 1st Jan Smile ....we'd go through it all together Smile Smile x

Issie339 · 06/04/2015 16:55

Oh phew so I'm not the only ttc-nutter then! Haha. I'm trying not to get my hopes up Nicky cos this will be my 6th cycle ttc...but it would be great if we all got our bfps together this month.

VioletIbiza88 · 06/04/2015 17:53

Well I didn't do that, but then reading those posts I then had to check lol! I got on or around 1st of January too Nicky. I'm also trying not to get my hopes up as it's my first cycle Issie, but that doesn't really work does it, we wouldn't be ttc if we weren't hopefull!!

nickynackynoo31 · 06/04/2015 18:49

It's also my first cycle and im tok not trying to get my hopes up....but it's hard not to isn't it???

everyone I go shopping km looking at baby things and I will admit I've even bought couple of pairs of scratch mits!!!! ð??? not sure if that's a bad or good thing but couldn't resist x

Issie339 · 06/04/2015 19:08

MaybeMrsMum2016 · 07/04/2015 06:04

Newbie here! Can I join in too?

Just married at the end of Feb and going to start TTC after my next AF. As it'd be our first I'm still keen on avoiding a christmas baby! Online due date calculators have put me at a EDD of Christmas eve! Gone crazy already! Oops!

Issie339 · 07/04/2015 08:34

Morning Nicky, how's your little one today? Hope s/he is feeling better, it's horrible when they're ill.

Hi MaybeMrs. So many weddings on this thread! Hope you had a lovely day. I know what you mean about the Christmas/New Year birthday thing, my OH actually suggested not trying this month to miss it but a whole extra month seemed too long to wait for me.

Nicky how do you find it having a New Years Eve birthday?

MaybeMrsMum2016 · 07/04/2015 18:18

Issie it was a fantastic day, it all went to plan and I wasn't late! Hoping the baby part goes according to plan too!

My mother-in-law has a birthday just before christmas and she hates it. Only one set of presents all her life! Sad

Brooke113 · 07/04/2015 18:50

Ttc is so confusing, I think I'm getting myself stressed, not to mention Dh. I thought I'd have a try around with OPKs, on.Sunday it was almost positive, the test line wasn't quite as dark as the control line. So I did one this morning and there was barely a line in the window :( have been having Ewcm for 5 days now too. :( think I'm driving poor dh mad with the amount of baby dancing were doing!

CuppaSarah · 07/04/2015 19:01

The surge can be as short as 6 hours, you probably just missed it with the opks. Ewcm with a nearly positive opk sounds like ov to me, so don't stress. There's no clear cut right or wrong signs of ov. Smile go with your gut and you'll rarely be wrong

VioletIbiza88 · 08/04/2015 11:58

I caved today and went and bought some opk's, I couldn't wait until next cycle! As not knowing when or if im ov'ing was starting to play on my mind, so thought i'd minimise that stress by trying to get a better idea of what my body is doing and when the right time is! It means I will be starting testing on CD14 (tomorrow) which will be later than I should start for my last cycle length, but hopefully it will still help give me a better idea and feel like im maximising my chances.

On another note does everyone get noticeable EWCM as I dont think I ever have, but ive been on the pill for a good while so maybe ive just forgot, but definately not noticed any since stopping it. And what does that mean in relation to when ov's coming, does it mean its happened or is imminent in next few days??

Brooke - sounds like youve been timing it right! Good luck! (and everyone else too of course!) :)

Brooke113 · 08/04/2015 13:39

Afternoon ladies :) so I decided to enter the last 6 months cycles into the app I'm using and it has decided that I'm due to ov on the 12th Hmm which is days away! Which has confused me even more, especially with the almost positive opk on Sunday and then complete negative yesterday...added to that the fact I've had Ewcm for the last 5 days, I thought I'd already ovovulated, and apparently according to the app I've got a few days to go, I don't have anymore OPKs so I don't know whether it's worth buying more and checking again everyday...are these apps always right do you think?

VioletIbiza88 · 08/04/2015 14:04

I think i'd personally trust the opks over an app. The opk is detecting surges in hormones, while the app is just making a mathematical calculation. Have your cycles been regular over the last 6 months? Suppose you could ovulate twice this cycle?

Brooke113 · 08/04/2015 14:20

Thanks for replying Violet, not very regular, between 30-34 days, which is why I'm guessing it's predicted I ovulate on the 12th, two weeks believe AF is due, I'm sure even if you have longer cycles you can ovulate early? I may be wrong though, may just have to buy a few more OPKs just to double check though lol
