Smear test when TTC

Hi, does anyone know if it's ok to have a smear test when you're TTC? I have one booked when I'll be around CD13 and possibly ovulating. Could it spoil my chances of getting up duffed?!

I have one due in June but saw the nurse the other day for another prob, she said come a week after period and don't have sex until after. so say CD7-8. before you get fertile... CD13 would be ok as long as you were okay to DTD?

Tempted to rebook in that case. I do want it done though, for peace of mind. I could just go and ask the nurse beforehand.

It would be ok on your ovulation day but I think you should be avoiding sex 24-48 hrs before the smear as sperm may not help accuracy of results (I'm not 100% though so maybe double check this!). I've had a smear while TTC and just booked it before I was ovulating, after my period so cd 8-12 for instance.

Please don't postpone your smear test. When TTC it's important to be up to date on smears. There is not problem having sex before, you just can't use certain lubricants as they affect the result. A smear won't affect your chances of getting pregnant. Smears are even performed during pregnancy in some cases. Pregnancy can just affect the result sometimes. I would go ahead with the smear and keep trying at the same time.

I had a smear test 4 days after conceiving DS2 (unknowingly); he's now 2.5 years old and doing fine Grin

And I've heard of people being asked to come back for second smears because the first ones were like sperm samples. The MORTIFICATION.

Thanks ladies. Don't think I've ovulated yet. CD13 tomorrow but no DTD tonight (yesterday was last time) so hopefully it'll be ok. I'll mention to the nurse though (that we're TTC). I don't really want to postpone it as if I do get pregnant this cycle it'll be a long time before I could have one again and they are so important. I just wish I had booked it a week earlier.

Just to update, had smear today and nurse confirmed it's no issue at all to have a smear whilst TTC. Incidentally I've not ovulated yet anyway.
