Hi guys,

I need your expertise and wisdom! I have a GP appointment on Saturday and am hopefully having a blood test to check for suspected thyroid issues. As they are taking my blood anyway do any of you think I should ask for any other tests and do you think they will agree? We've been ttc for 5 months so I know it's too early to be asking and getting worried but I just thought it might be worthwhile as I'm having a blood test anyway! What do you think? If I'm being a crazy ttc lady silly just shout at me!

Hey,

Tests to establish whether or not you are ovulating need to be done on certain cycle days, so they take a bit of planning. Unless you were talking about other tests?

Thanks tootsie I think I'm ovulating as I'm using OPK's every month. What about amount/quality of eggs? Or any others?

I just realised show stupid I sound! As if a blood test will show that! See, this ttc malarkey really makes you crazy Blush

There is a test called amh that is supposed to indicate egg reserve levels but it isn't usually offered on the nhs and some private clinics seem to be moving away from it. But it's not a completely mad thought!

Hi. I've only been trying for five months too, but as I've never shown positive on home ov kits I asked about options.... I've recently had a scan and it's shown a large cyst on one ovary. If I hadn't of asked I would never have known, as no symptoms!

You need to do and ask what is right for you at the time and not worry too much about the usual 12 month guidelines, everyone is different but I'd rather know sooner or later what my options and chances are.

Good luck x

I've just been to have bloods as TTC for 6 months, I know not long but I'm 37 so don't have time to wait to see if anything's wrong! They tested for iron levels, kidney function as well as thyroid. All came back clear. This month they're testing for estrogen levels.

Thanks guys, I appreciate hearing your stories. I agree that everyone is different and I'm definitely going to ask the question - I just don't know how far to push it if they say no?
