I'm on cd11 but haven't tested yet today. Have had some ovulation symptoms which is unusual for me so I may be about to ovulate. I use the clear blue digi as well and have never had a smily but hoping I get one this cycle.
Fx for those in the tww
Hopefully it'll work out well for you tessie and you'll have enough sperm in there to meet the egg

tessiegirl · 23/03/2015 10:54

Star Good luck today, Sparkly!!!!! Star

tessiegirl · 23/03/2015 10:56

Thanks Dizzy! Best of luck to you for getting a smiley!!! Smile

mummyofonesofar · 23/03/2015 10:58

Mumof1 the onestep ones are like IC pg tests with two lines on a stick that you interpret to decide how far from your surge you are. The clear blue dual hormone ones give you an empty smiley face when you are not fertile, a flashing smiley when you are high fertility and a static smiley at your peak - it monitors two hormones levels to give your smiley faces.

Nomio230 · 23/03/2015 11:20

Dizzy, if you are not ovulating regularly, it may be that you have PCOS. Have you had any tests?

I use the ordinary CB with the smiley face. I tried the dual hormone one & it just gave me flashing smileys all the time, with no solid. Luckily I was still using the single hormone as well & that gave me my smiley face. If I had relied on the dual hormone, I would have missed OV, so I don't trust them.

Are brazil nuts good for fertility for us girlies too? I always though it was more important to stuff DH full of them!

spinningirl10 · 23/03/2015 11:21

Mumof1, I use the Amazon ic's. You get about 25 for £2 I think. You can then use them 2/3 times daily when your line gets darker. I also use the CB smiley ones but only when my line on the ic gets darker. The smiley face on the CB then confirms my positive. I sometimes find that my line on the opk doesn't get as dark as the control.

DizzyMerry · 23/03/2015 11:32

I don't have pcos nomio but I do have endometriosis, although last scan was clear and I don't get awful pre af symptoms, no pain and heavy periods now. I have a day 21 blood test arranged for this cycle so will find out whether I am ovulating or not

spinningirl10 · 23/03/2015 11:36

Nomio Brazil nuts contain selenium which is good, can't remember why though!Smile

DizzyMerry · 23/03/2015 11:45

A quick google search threw up this info on selenium which is present in high levels in Brazil nuts.

scientists say an element found in these foods could increase a woman's chance of conceiving.

That element – selenium - is a natural antioxidant and plays a crucial role in the early stages of conception.

It's also crucial in the development of healthy ovarian follicles, which are responsible for the production of eggs in women.

I should stock up on Brazil nuts now!

Nomio230 · 23/03/2015 11:52

Thanks Dizzy. I am glad you have bloods arranged. Hopefully they will give you more of an idea what is going on.

Right, anyone else hoping to buy Brazil nuts in Tesco today will be disappointed as I am going to nab them all!

loopylou1984 · 23/03/2015 12:21

I'm buying Brazil nuts tonight too!! Xx

Mumof1sofar · 23/03/2015 14:43

Thanks all you ladies for the fab advice. I am now the proud owner of some cb digital opks, a large pack of Brazil nuts & some pineapple juice Smile Fx...

spinningirl10 · 23/03/2015 14:46

I keep a pot of mixed nuts in my car and my bag for when I get hungry. Dp has a pot of Brazil nuts as well, very good for spermSmile

mummyofonesofar · 23/03/2015 14:46

Lovely! Enjoy - there is a nice chart in the box saying when to start dipping/poas your CB dual opks.

Mumof1sofar · 23/03/2015 15:03

Fab, thanks Smile

Btw does anyone know how pineapple juice is supposed to help, or is it just a myth..?

DizzyMerry · 23/03/2015 15:09

I was just about to ask about pineapple juice mum. Interested in the answers

Nomio230 · 23/03/2015 15:30

As far as I can tell there is no actual evidence to either support or reject drinking pineapple juice.

'Eating pineapple, and specifically pineapple core, to aid implantation is a widespread theory on the internet and is also prescribed by natural and Chinese medicine practitioners. Unfortunately there is not yet any clinical evidence that pineapple helps implantation.

Pineapple core contains an enzyme called Bromelain that reduces inflammation in the body, including in the uterus. It is also a mild blood thinner which some believe can aid in implantation. Note that many doctors prescribe baby aspirin, a blood thinner, to help with implantation, but this dose is controlled.

It is thought that bromelain in large doses can cause uterine contractions and interfere with implantation of an embryo -- although clinical evidence in this area is lacking too. Some cultures even use pineapple to induce miscarriage or start labor.'

DizzyNorthernBird · 23/03/2015 16:32

wotsits it's a good plan! Imagine when if we both get bfps, everyone will be clamouring to do the dizzynorthenplan!

Oh boo I nearly bought some Brazil nuts today but went for almonds instead Confused

BabyBumpHopeful · 23/03/2015 18:52

Well I got a peak result today which is about right. Last month I got a positive on this CD as well, but then the nadir wasn't until CD22.

I started cramping last night so knew it was coming but went straight from negative for 2 days to positive, no flashing smiley (at least I have lots of sticks left for next month if I don't catch this month!) and some of you may remember last month it was flashing for about 7 days.

TMI - But I was also unsure whether to trust it because I pee'd before remembering to test (fricken snowed this morning which threw me off!) but was able to pee just a little bit more, enough to dunk the stick when tipping the cup and without bending the stick at all and I'm not sure whether that's a reliable result (and with these OPK's I can't retest.. which is why I'd ordered more of the IC's as a backup).

Well, DH will be told when I get home that he's expected to perform tonight and tomorrow.. mwahahaha

Mumof1sofar · 23/03/2015 19:00

Interesting, thanks nomio.

Good luck babybump. Weird you never got a flashing smiley??

DizzyNorthernBird · 23/03/2015 19:08

Skipped my run tonight in order to dtd instead as DP said he'd be too tired if I left it until later Blush. Panicking already in case it's still too soon.

Neg but darker opk this morning, gonna do another one in a minute to see if any change. Got a positive on this day last month so here's hoping!

wotsits1 · 23/03/2015 19:20

dizzy I hate the whole 'is it? isn't it?' opk thing. My dh just said to me; 'do you need me tonight, tomorrow and that's it? Next month can you just write it in my calendar when you need me and I'll just show up? save me keep asking you!' lol!

wotsits1 · 23/03/2015 19:21

PS; Im buying shares in Brazil nuts!'

MelonMelon · 23/03/2015 19:38

Can I request a virtual slap? These were very effective on the January bus and I'm in great need of one! Have spent majority of my day Googling maternity clothes! A tad premature as I'm on CD10 Confused Why do we do it to ourselves? One click leads to another and we get carried away! Hope you're all enjoying your nuts lol

nightandthelight · 23/03/2015 19:41

Step away from the internet melon
