false positive?

how common is it to have a false positive?

It's not. A line is a libe.
But sadly sometimes if you test early you can get a faint libe which then disappears again in the next couple of days. This is called a chemical pregnancy.
Best to wait til a few days after a missed period for an accurate result.
Best of luck!

So have you tested and got a line and therefore a positive result?
Is it the result you wanted?
There is a board called 'pregnancy choices' that may be helpful.

Is this an accidental pregnancy?
A lot of women are scared by pregnancy, but there can be a log of help along the way if you want to continue with your pregnancy, and you'll have 9 months to adjust, if that's what you want to do.

pennygirl26 · 08/03/2015 18:44

yes. we never planned it at all. the idea of something growing inside me tummy makes me feel ill. i sound so stupid.

You don't sound silly. It is a pretty weird exoerience when you break it down. But it is also incredible.
As you've only just found out and it was unexpected, it will take a while for the shock to settle.
But there are many options of you decide you are not ready for this pregnancy. And a lot of support available if you decide you do want to proceed with it.
The best thing to do is to talk about it and think about how you want to handle this.
Don't be scared to ask for help.
At any age and whether a orwgnancy is planned or not, it is pretty terrifying to see that second line appear.
You're not alone in feeling that way by any means.
