Can anyone shed some light on this chart?

I'm new to charting. I have PCOS and am currently on day 88 of my 'cycle'. I had to put a fake period into FF because it wouldn't chart my temperatures past a certain date, so ignore that part. I thought the temperature spike the other day might have indicated ovulation, but now it's dropped right down. Could that mean anything? I temp at the same time every day and only have to stick my arm out to get the thermometer, so no real movement.

Ideas??

I didn't want to read and run - I have no experience of pcos really, I hope someone comes along soon to offer more helpful advice.

All I can think of is that you could be expecting a period shortly as the the dip is really quite severe isn't it.

Are you using any ovulation sticks or just temping?
are you going through any treatment?

Thanks for the reply glittery Smile

I'm only temping at the moment. I have some ov sticks on their way but they are taking forever - I live in Dubai and the postal system is slow as anything. Also not very easy to get hold of in shops here. I've heard that sticks aren't very accurate for people with PCOS though I'm not sure why that is.

I'm not on any treatment just yet. I have an appointment on 17th March so hopefully I'll start on the road to clomid then. 80+ day cycles are really taking the mick! I've never had a proper cycle but was never that bothered until I started TTC Smile

It's possible that this is your ovulation dip. Will have to wait and see what your next few periods look like.

Temp is lowest before you ovulate and highest after ovulation. Your temp will dip right before your period kicks in and stay low until you ovulate when it goes higher.

You will also get a dip before you ovulate, usually only lasting a day or two.

So if it shoots back up and stays up you may have ovulated :) If it doesn't, your period may be coming.

Ah that's useful to know, thank you! Today it has gone back to a sort of 'average' level so I will see what happens tomorrow. What I wouldn't give for a 'normal' body and reproductive system Hmm

That app is really good I use it too

I find temp checking a faff so go by my cm and also cervix check as I have the opposite problem to you and have very short cycles! Cm is by far and a way my most reliable method and always catch when we follow it, sadly we mc when we do catch but that's by the by!

AbFab86 · 08/03/2015 06:28

Sorry to hear you've had problems with MC Thanks

I've been wondering about the CM idea. I've always been aware of it but before we started TTC I didn't think much of it, just that it was 'there'. Since TTC I've noticed a couple of different types but they never seem to lead to anything. I thought it was watery about 2 weeks ago so that should mean AF is due any time now. I'll wait and see! Not sure it has ever been EWCM though. I looked at a website with some pictures on and it made me gag Confused haha never again!

CM is not the most reliable method at all! No no no. CM can change but not mean you've ovulated.

Temp will tell you after you've ovulated by a shift in temperature, as I said before, higher = ovulated.

OPK's monitor your LH levels and dual hormone OPK's also monitor oestrogen. A surge LH is detected prior to ovulation and you can have a surge but not ovulate.

CM changes throughout your cycle and is linked to hormones. The change in hormones can change your CM but like the OPK's, the change doesn't mean ovulation.

Best method for conception is DTD EOD during the month and then every day in the 3 days prior to OV and the day after. Sadly, there's still only a 20% chance each cycle anyway.

Baby dust to us all!

AbFab86 · 09/03/2015 05:37

I think you're right, with PCOS everything seems to go out the window! I'm all for DTD every other day for a month, but seeing as my cycle is nearing day 90 now I fear we'd both be near death ?

Just for a laugh this morning, FF told me I'd ovulated last week. It has a sense of humour ?
