Pregnancy test suddenly negative at 6 weeks

Hello
I am by my calculation 6 weeks pregnant. I have had positive tests since a day or two before my missed period, getting stronger and stronger.

I suddenly decided to do a test today and one came back positive (a Boots one) but the internet cheapie ones all came back negative.

I guess this means I am going to miscarry?

I am no expert, but on my IC tests, it says once HCG levels get above a certain level they can no longer be considered accurate.
If you have no cramping / bleeding things still look positive. Try not to worry. Although I know that is a stupid thing to say. Flowers

A bit of googling I did said that you should still get positive if you use diluted urine - which I tried and didn't make any difference...

The Boots one was a definite positive but the IC ones were all negative and I thought they were supposed to be more sensitive?

Maybe will go for a scan tomorrow, I hate the uncertainty. He one booked for when I was 7+4 as should have been able to see heartbeat then :-( but don't think I can wait that long.

No cramping or anything, just feel the same as I did in my other two pregnancies. Was starting to think was getting onset of morning sickness too (which I had really awfully with my two sons).

Internet cheapies can be quite hit and miss.

Ive used the clear blue digital ones to go up the steps because they say 1-2 2-3 and 3+ on them. Have you tried one of those?

If you have a positive on the boots one I wouldn't panic at all, ICs can be tricky.

stopeatingbiscuits · 05/03/2015 21:14

I will try a Clear Blue one tomorrow, good idea.

Isn't it weird that they are suddenly negative though? Isn't that pretty conclusive? I did one (an Internet cheap one) a few days ago and hey were strong positives.

I would wonder of there was a something wrong with the cheapies. If you got a positive test you must have HCG in your body which the IC tests should pick up too. Even if it's only feint. No lines at all sounds like a fault to me.

Agree with pp....if you had + on boots you definitely have hcg in your system. Try the CB digis. good luck Thanks

stopeatingbiscuits · 05/03/2015 21:55

Well I'll try a CB tomorrow, though tbh I feel like it must be game over. Will report back in any event!

Good luck today

Rosieliveson · 06/03/2015 09:48

Hope you got your positive this morning.

stopeatingbiscuits · 06/03/2015 09:55

All negative this morning and have had some light bleeding this a.m. - having scan in 20 mins so am sure he will confirm the obvious. Pretty sad :-( Though I have been so lucky up to now I should be grateful.

Sorry to hear that you poor thing . Fingers crossed x

stopeatingbiscuits · 06/03/2015 12:17

So the consultant (I see obs privately) couldn't see anything on the scan and took blood for HCG levels, to be repeated on Monday, to confirm either way. He is then going to scan me again a week today to check what is going on in there. I mentioned I was worried about this (this is second month of trying and after first month I also got +ve pregnancy test but period came a week late) being something to do with retained placenta I had after my second son (which was removed via hysteroscopy (sp?) not standard d&c) and he said adhesions can develop as a result of that which can cause issues but he thinks it unlikely because of the type of treatment I had.

Now obviously am terrified I might not be able to have any more children. I hope I am just being my usual neurotic self and over analysing things but it is going to be a long week I fear.

You poor poor thing...how scary and the waiting is the worst. I hope you have some support at home. X

Rosieliveson · 06/03/2015 14:48

Oh, how frightening for you. Try to relax (impossible I know). Hopefully the news will be good. Keeping my fingers crossed.
