Sedation and gastroscopy

I'm assuming the answer to this is don't TTC yet but worth checking!

I need a gastroscopy where I'll be sedated on 11 March. I will ovulate between 7-12 March I think. Is it just not worth the risk of conceiving around the sedation? It's conscious sedation not GA if that makes a difference.

It does depend on what day you'll ovulate I think. Are you tracking? As if you ovulate after the sedation then you should be ok. And it takes a few days for the egg to implant after ovulation anyway. I'd ask your gp/ practice nurse to be safe though as common sense dies make me think it's prob best to avoid to be safe!

does

Can you have it without the sedation? I have had a gastroscopy twice without and it wasn't too bad.

It's really not going to make much difference. Any potential fertilised egg will not have implanted, and even if it had, the embryo does not share a blood supply with you for a good few weeks.

I've only just started tracking so I'm unsure exact dates, the above is best guess though. I really don't want to take any risks if it would be one. I'll see if a GP can give me a telephone consult next week.
