Coming off the pill - Now what??

Hi Ladies,

I need a bit of advise, support and/or reassurance in regards to TTC after coming off the pill.

I was on Mycrogynon 30 for 7 years and in June we decided it was time for me to stop taking it and add to our family. (This will be baby #1 for us).

I read somewhere that it can take a couple of cycles for everything to settle down so we decided to take is slow and as it comes while my body sorted itself out.

8 months down the line, my periods are still all over the place.

24th June - 28 days
22nd July - 26 days
17th August - 26 days
12th September - 26 days
8th October - 31 days
3rd November - 29 days
2nd December - 32 days
3rd January - 28 days
31st January - 23 days
23rd February -

Should I be concerned? Should I go see my doctor? or Am I just being dramatic and stupid?

This is not all over the place- you're regular! I came off the pill and had no period for 7 months, then only with 34-62 day cycles. You're looking great! Stop worrying and get dtd! Good luck, and enjoy it!Smile

surferchic41212 · 23/02/2015 14:25

Have you been trying for 8 months?

bunny85 · 23/02/2015 14:30

Doesn't look all over the place to me- it's pretty normal to have few days plus or minus. Keep trying!

chezlou · 23/02/2015 14:36

surferchic - Thank you. I have been on the pill for so long, I suppose I was used to every 28 days without fail.
We have been dtd a couple of times around ovulation week and not all the time.
I dont want the fun to be sucked out of by being too psycho women and getting too stressed.
Our attitute is it will happen when it is meant to.

Bunny85 - Thanks :-)
As I said in my last post, I suppose I was used to being on the pill and my cycle being 28 days :-)

They look pretty regular to me! I only had one period in the first 6 months after coming off microgynon then it took another 6 months for them to get to anything more frequent than every 45 days. Conceived 13th month of trying.

Good luck with TTC!

No that looks really normal, like mine actually and I have had a baby. I would say don't rely too much on when your ovulation is. Have sex as much as you can enjoy all the way through your cycle as ovulation isn't accurate unless you are actually using thermometers/kits etc. Most women wouldn't know when they're ovulating. Also I'm sure I read somewhere that regular sex kind of prepares your body for your husband's sperm. May be rubbish but you never know!

Thanks all :-)
I have booked an appointment for next week because I have some questions to ask the doctor but at least I can stop worrying now.

We started TTC a couple of months ago, after using condoms for most of last year(but with no periods having come off pill).. So far we've just been having loads of lovely sex, and not worrying about it.. I know when I ovulate, but we don't limit it to then.. Then there's no pressure..hope it all goes well for you!
