My bbt temps after O are bonkers - anyone else had this?!

Hello, this is my first month ttc and temping (not been on hormonal contraceptives for years so no issues there) and my temps were on the low side before O (no thyroid issue, had it checked out). I O'd a bit late (on day 18) and then had 3 high temperatures around the same (36.2 to about 36.5), but this morning my temp shot up madly - it was 37.49! See my chart:

Didn't have disturbed sleep last night, house wasn't hot, didn't drink any alcohol the night before so no obvious explanation as to why temp was this high.

I guess I'll just have to wait and see what the next couple of days bring, I just wanted to see if anyone else had had this experience.

Also had loads of creamy CM yesterday followed by large blob of EW this morning (sorry for TMI). I thought perhaps it was possible that I ovulated later than I thought but I am pretty certain I O'd on day 18 as CM pattern and OPK backed this up....

Thanks :)

I've never seen a jump of a full degree like that, the only time I had a couple of crazy temps mid-cycle I was ill with some sort of food poisoning. O temps are usually only .4 - .6 for me, so I'd wait and see what happens. Maybe check your thermometer works properly or you didn't misread it? Sorry, don't mean to sound patronising, but I know it can happen early in the morning in the dark!!

Hi Matchstick - did you take your temp earlier/later than normal? You have indicated a clear dot (open circle) on your chart which indicates that something is a little different about the temp.

At this stage it's probably just a rogue temperature. It could be an increase in progesterone or just a wonky temp. At 4dpo it's too early for it to be a 'sign' of any kind (depsite how much we want it to be :))

I am sure someone more knoweldagble will be along in a bit!!

thanks for answers both, don't worry not patronising at all - i actually turned on the light to make sure that was what it said and made DH take his temp too to make sure it was working properly. and yes I take it at 6.30 every morning without fail.

guess i will have to wait and see what the next few days bring! there is no chance it is a pregnancy symptom as I am only 4dpo.

am now wondering if i ovulated later than I thought as I got EWCM today...but thought my temps showed a clear rise.

Just keep DTD to make sure and fx!!!

temps back to normal this morning so suspect it was just a random mad one....I now think perhaps I didn't let the BBT thermometer go down to 'lo' before I stuck it in my mouth
