Advice needed about Positive OPK

I have been trying to conceive for over three years (I already have children but problems since coming off depo).
My period is late (about 3/4 days but not entirely sure as I have stopped keeping track due to going so long without conceiving). My nipples have also been sore for 2 days.
I was going to do a pregnancy test but didn't have one in the house and I have a 10 year old with me today so I didn't want to go and buy one due to questions being asked. I do have some OPKs in the house and have heard that in early pregnancy an OPK will likely show positive due to similar hormones being released as during ovulation.
I did an OPK and it is positive. It is the darkest positive I have ever managed on an OPK. I don't think I can be ovulating as I am overdue my period.
Could I be pregnant?

I'm going to have to find a way to get to the chemist without 10 year old aren't I?

Yes, go and get a pg test, you'll never know for sure otherwise Grin Good luck!

Isithappening · 13/02/2015 12:55

Thanks cloud jumper.
I am considering how to get into chemist without 10 year old asking "what are you getting". I will have to drive to the chemist so I could park outside and say I am Nipping in for something else and leave nosey Parker in the car.
After more than three years trying it would be a great valentines surprise, but trying not to get my hopes up too much.

Fingers crossed for you :) deffo get a preg test and test tomorrow morning with first morning pee.

Or buy one online?

Give the 10yo £5 to spend on sweets in Boots, the sweet isle is a long way away from the pg test isle in ours, child will be busy choosing whilst you sneakily make your purchase.

I couldn't wait until tomorrow morning. We have been trying to conceive for so long that impatience got the better of me (but I did buy two tests just in case I needed to retest with first morning urine).
I went to the charity bookshop with the 10 year old and he chose about five books so I took him back to the car and let him sit in reading whilst I popped into the chemist a couple of doors down. He was so busy being happy with his book haul (real book worm) that he wasn't bothered about what I was going to the chemist for.
Test just done and it was positive Smile.

oh wow congratulations :) i've recently come off the dreaded Depo too so I know your pain! here's hoping for a smooth, uneventful 9 months for you!

Isithappening · 13/02/2015 19:08

Good luck jellipi, I hope you too have good news soon.

It has just dawned on me that the funny blood/metallic taste I have had in my mouth at nighttime for the past four days is an early pregnancy symptom. Because we have been TTC for so long I think I had given up hope and stopped monitoring my body signs. DH has also informed me that it has actually been more than 4 years since I came off depo and not the three years that I thought it was. He is correct as when I thought about it I came off depo at end of 2010.

That's a very strong positive! I'd be getting a CB digi with the weeks because it looks like you might get 2-3 weeks which is actually 4-5 weeks pregnant by doc standards.

Congrats!

mollypollly · 15/02/2015 17:49

Aww huge congratulations, that has put a big smile on my face! Keeping fingers and toes crossed you have a lovely smooth pregnancy Smile x

Dunwhingin · 15/02/2015 17:54

Happy happy happy ! Congratulations what a great valentines

Isithappening · 15/02/2015 19:00

sykadelic I did consider getting a clear blue digi because I wasn't sure on dates but thought I would be 4/5 weeks on doctors calculations. But I went against getting a clear blue digi because I thought the weeks on them correlated to doctors dates so I would only get 3+ which wouldn't tell me anything. Now that you have explained I might go and get one tomorrow and see what it says. Just have to figure out how to distract two children tomorrow (half term).
