Spinning I know what you mean I hope you are preggers by the end of this year! How come your thinking of Czech for ivf?? If our NHS go doesn't work we are also considering that as we have friends there so would be familiar in a way. Have you researched some clinics?

I also have DH on wellmans, 1000mg vit c (just the Tesco dissolvable drink thingies a bit like berrocca), extra zinc and selenium. A handful of mixed nuts each day is also reccomended (walnuts/hazelnuts are good). DH is awaiting his 2nd sa result so I will see if all of that has helped, although our concern was 20% antibodies but morphology could be improved from 7% hopefully, even though we were told not an issue I'd like to see it above 15%.

Spinning please join us here, I miss you! X

Vic We've decided to do back to back IUIs as the past two have all had follicles from my right side only so wanted to give my left ovary a go! If I only have follicles on my right next time then that might explain the problem! Plus I found out last week that the ivf clinic we want to go to is moving out of our hospital to the outskirts of our city so will make the appointments a nightmare, joy!

DH had been on wellmans for two years, omega 3,6,9 tabs plus I have been pushing maca down him morning and night.

Good luck with the IVF Lucie x

Lucie that's amazing your starting ivf next month. Can I ask some info about the clinic your going to and prices? Why did you choose Czech? Just want to know everything as we could end up doing the same at some stage, hope you don't mind me asking! And please keep us posted how it all goes I'd love to hear, so hoping it works for you!

Hi Mama yes that's no problem. I was looking into having ivf in the UK but couldn't really afford it. We would have paid for it somehow but would have been in a lot of debt. We were looking at £8000+ for a 2 cycle package.

I had heard of prices being a lot cheaper abroad but hadn't thought to look into it for ages. Anyway I started doing some googling and Czech Republic was one of the places that came out as the best value but they are also renowned for being leaders in Europe for ivf and they have very good clinics using the latest techniques. I checked the success rates and they were also better than the UK. So many English speaking couples go over there they are all geared up for it and have English speaking coordinators you can contact with any questions and get the ball rolling. I've found the whole process very easy so far. Czech also attracted me due to cheap flights from most airports and cheap hotel and food when you get out there.

I am going to a clinic called Reprofit which is in Brno, the second largest city outside of Prague. There are many good clinics in Czech another being Gennet which is actually in Prague. They have a 4 month waiting list though and Reprofit don't.

I am paying £1440 for ivf with icsi. They only use ICSI in their procedures out there rather than standard ivf as it increases the success rate. I have to buy the medication on top of that then which I am getting from the pharmacy affiliated with the clinic and having it shipped over. That has come to £650 again a saving of a couple of hundred pounds on the cheapest UK price I could find. We are probably looking at about £500-£600 for flights and accommodation for the two of us. I just couldn't justify paying UK prices once I had looked into it all.

I will definitely keep you updated. Let me know if you want any more info Smile

Lucie that sounds fab! I will def consider it! When do you go over? Please keep me posted on your progress and experience I'm very interested to hear all about it. Also, do you have to pay for hefty health insurance in case anything goes wrong?

Quite exciting for you to be starting soon! :)

lucieloos · 12/03/2015 15:49

Oh yes I do need to get insurance! Thanks mama you reminded me of that. I don't think it's too hefty though. I will look into it and let you know. If you go onto fertility friends forum they have a dedicated board on there for IVF in Czech with lots of useful info.

I am due to start meds around 7th April and then go out around the 18th for egg collection. I'm planning to get an endo scratch done in the UK on my next cycle as its meant to help with implantation and we are also looking to use PICSI and embryo glue out in Czech as well.

Hi Mama, sorry to hear your Dh has sperm issues. I hope the vits work for him and you get your bfp before you need ivf.
I've got dp on lots of vits and Brazil nuts. Lucie knows lots about the ivf and has already given me info. There's another lady on the ttc buses that had her baby from IVF in Czeck, first go! We're also looking at Prague but as Lucie said there is a waiting list. We don't get any IVF on the NHS as I'm too old and it's too expensive to go private here. Also they seem to have better doctors and success rates abroad. I will hang around here now I've found you but I have so much going on at the moment so not been posting a lot. Although I think this thread will be easier to keep up with than the monthly ttc bus.

Hi spinning Smile I think I will hang around here too and just poke my head in on the ttc buses, they do go very fast!

We have sperm issues too mama which is the main reason that we are having ivf. DH has low motility, everything else is fine. I've had him on vitamins since last August, he even did a stint of acupuncture but nothing has worked for us.

Spinning I don't post that often either tbh, just check in now and again to see what's happening with everyone! Be lovely to have you and Lucie here too :)

Lucie my DH has 20% antibodies, the fertility specialist said the rest of his results are all fine. He also repeated the sa recently as he said he thinks the antibodies might be a "red herring" whatever that means, but he seemed positive that anything below 50% antibodies was nothing to worry about!

Spinning perhaps you and I could do a trip to Czech together at the end of the year lol I'm due to have my NHS ivf oct time so if that fails, I will def be going to Czech!

really interesting to hear about Czech costs. I'd do it but dh is totally against going abroad for it so looks like I'll be paying through the nose in the uk for our 2nd round!

Lil it's a huge difference in cost but not only that, the success rates abroad are much higher than uk....makes me wonder what are the uk doing wrong!!! I had a friend who had 5 uk ivf treatments, she then went abroad and got pregnant with the 1st ivf treatment and had 2 embryos frozen! She had her little one and then returned for the frozen transfers....she has not long had her healthy twins! so 3 children from ivf abroad in 2 years!!! (she's exhausted but very happy!)

Aww thank you mama, I really hope it works but I know we would be very lucky for it to work first time around. It's hard to prepare for it really. I can't imagine how I am going to feel when it's all started and then when I'm in the 2ww!

Where did your friend have ivf abroad? One of my friends had ivf in the UK. She got lucky and had twins first time around, a boy and a girl. It's their 2nd birthday this weekend Smile

My friend had ivf in Cyprus! More expensive for flights etc but she has no regrets and was so happy first time around she knew she had to go back again for the frozen embryos! That's great your friend had success as well, I am hoping that I am one of the lucky ones with uk treatment and I so hope yours works first time around. It must be so daunting about to begin your journey but also exciting! Stay positive, I believe that is half the battle!

Lucie, interesting to hear that the vitamins didn't work for your dh, I think I'm hedging all my bets on super sperm in 3 months but I guess I should be more realistic! Dp is going to have acupuncture as I've been having it, thought it was worth a shot!

Mama, yes let's go to Czech at Christmas and come home with New Year bfp's Smile

Just to share a happy story that friends of ours have just got their bfp from their second round of ivf here in the Uk. They've been trying for ages and today they text to say that they had a scan and saw a little heart beat Smile

Sounds like you've had quite a journey and I'm sorry for your mc, I hope you get your sticky bfp soon.

Wow Nonconformist, I'm super impressed with the improvement in your dh's sperm!! Really hope they work for you now.

How are you doing Lil? Hope your ok hun xx

Ha bless all these DP and DHs on various cocktails of things that we've heard about! I don't think my DH has done much research himself, I've just plied him with tablets!!

Very interesting to hear about the Czech Republic...good luck Lucie and will be eagerly awaiting news! Our consultant said that a clinic in Alicante, Spain was very good and recommended we go there - they've got a satellite clinic in London where you can go and do all your tests etc, they Skype consultations and then you pop over there for implantation! All sounds so easy...!
