Hello!

I'm new to Mumsnet (so forgive me if my acronyms are wrong!) and new to TTC - despite being 36. Late bloomer I guess!

Have been with my husband (he's 43) for six years (only got married in November 2014 though) and didn't feel ready to have children until now - and now we immediately feel like we've left it too late. CLASSIC.

Anyway, AF in full swing at the moment so will actively TTC 20-something Feb depending on what the various ovulation apps and tests say!

No drinking in Jan and folic acid in preparation.

Anyone else in the same boat?

Basically, I'm impatient and want to get started and two weeks seems like an eternity! Although, not as long as the two weeks after when I'm waiting to do a test I'm sure...

Hi, I'm in a similar situation.....I'm 34, hubby has just turned 40! We've been married for nearly three years but together for almost ten. We weren't ready until now, been having nice holidays and doing stuff to the house! Like you, now we've decided we are both really impatient!! It's just a lottery really, we've only been actively ttc since November last year but it already feels like a lifetime! And if one more person says "it's your turn next!" When discussing babies and pregnancy! Grrrrr!!

Hey - thanks for posting!

Because I'm one of the last of my friends/family to get married all eyes are on me. Everyone else has their children, or is pregnant, or is bored of talking about their own conception issues and looking for fresh meat haha!

I am determined not to fully obsess until we've been trying for six months...

Hello!
I'm 37 and about to start TTC for the first time. My DH had a vasectomy reversal just over a week ago so we're not anticipating an easy journey and I imagine I'll be on these boards for quite a while!
We're taking pre-conception vitamins and I'm eating a kiwi fruit every day too (which is apparently amazing... we'll see!)

MazzaP78 · 10/02/2015 19:08

Ooo thanks for the kiwi fruit tip.

Is there a set amount of time you have to wait after a vasectomy reversal before ttc?

What does kiwi do?x

MrsWatts · 10/02/2015 19:34

I read some articles that said kiwi was great for female fertility so thought I'd give it a go, plus I love kiwi fruit!

We have to wait 2 weeks after the VR until we can do the deed but that coincides with when I'm due on, so it'll be more like 3! Then we'll be at it like rabbits!

MazzaP78 · 10/02/2015 19:38

I just Googled it. Think it's high in antioxidants which is... good? Seems to be quite a bit of anecdotal evidence for aiding conception. Worth a try I guess!

Runs off to buy kiwi fruits......what lengths we go to hey!x

MazzaP78 · 12/02/2015 09:59

Haha! Every time my husband sees me popping a vitamin pill or eating an unusual fruit he says: "You're not getting weird about this are you?" x

Hi, I'm also TTC our first and I'm 35. I've been off the pill for 6 years and thought at the beginning if we fall pregnant that's great so haven't really been tracking.

After 5 years of nothing, we got the clear blue fertility monitor and tracked and tried religiously. Nothing happened. End of December last year we went to our GP and I had the two blood tests done (D1-5 and D21) and the 3x swab. All come back clear/normal. My fiancé had the sperm tests done and they also come out normal.

Today I've had the letter to set up an appointment with a fertility clinic... We're both a little nervous but hoping it'll be good news by the end of it all. Our GP has just left for maternity and she is also having a fertility baby, so she knew exactly what we were going through, feelings and all which helped so much.

Good luck to everyone TTC, and keep chomping on the Kiwi fruits! I know I'm going to be Grin

Hello - thanks for posting. Good luck with the fertility clinic appointment - I always recount the story of my friend who was in a similar situation to you and got pregnant first try and has a lovely little girl to show for it!

Positive Mental Attitude!

Thanks M, it's always good to hear a similar story that has a happy ending. I'm harnessing the positive mental attitude as much as I can!

Good luck and hope you have a busy weekend for you if the apps and tests show you're peaking Wink Hehehe!
