Mama that's a really short cycle, have you always had a 21 day cycle or has it shortened as you've got older? Only reason I mention it is I had real trouble conceiving until I managed to lengthen my, at it's shortest 23 day cycle, back to 27/28 days. I did that using acupuncture and copious supplements.

Hi well it was always short 23-24 days but yes has got shorter. I'm breast feeding my 8 month old so maybe that's effecting things?? Also i turned 40 in December so am getting old!!

Didn't mean to be doing this all at my age but sometimes life doesn't pan out how you expect huh

Sebsnummy- I thought having a shorter cycle would make conceiving easier ...shorter cycle = more eggs come around quicker??

Bf may well be throwing your cycle off a bit. Mine has only started to settle back down now into airt sort of recognisable pattern and DD2 is 2.5yo. I bf (reducing down feeds after 6mths) until a year and periods came back when she was 11mths old to put it into context.

I honestly think that at 40 and still breast feeding your chance of conceiving is incredibly low. I am saying this as a 40 year old in one weeks time who TTC whilst still breast feeding and had short cycles. I am honestly not being a pessimistic cow.

For me to conceive I quit breast feeding when DS was one. I was using opks and OV day went from day 16 with a 10 day luteul phase to ovulating on day 12 with a 13/14 day LP. I caught on month two but miscarried then caught again a few months later but it was a weird chemical. My periods then shortened to 23 days from about 25/26 and I didn't conceive again for 9 months.

I made a decision around Autumn to throw money at it. I found a fabulous fertility acupuncturist and took loads of bloody expensive supplements and so did DP. Four months later I was pregnant and so far it seems to be a sticky one.

The reason short cycles aren't good for conception is that the first half of your cycle isn't long enough to create a mature egg and the second half of your cycle isn't long enough to allow for implantation. As you are still breast feeding your prolactin levels will be high which will be hindering ovulation. I don't know if you do opks but I suspect you will be ovulating late or possibly not at all.

Hi guys I'm new to this site I have one child who is 5 and I've been trying for another for 4 years I'm with the fertility clinic I have had regularly periods for 8 months now but this one. I'm 10 days late and 2negative tests I don't know what to do. Any tips or advice thanks ????....
