Well maybe not everything ;o)

HELLOOOOOO

I'm new to this forum so please forgive me if i am posting something other people have posted before but i am scared to death of everthing and anything and looking for a bit of advice (and all the acronyms confuse the hell out of me so bear with me whilst i try lol)

Hubby (DH??) and i have decided we want to try for our first baby (TTC?). I came off the pill around 15 Jan after being on it for around 20 years (give or take a minor daliance with the evil Depo Provera!)

Since then i havn't had any spotting or periods (Af i think lol) but i have had fluttering sensations and dragging aches in my tummy (we've done the deed 3 times - sorry if TMI) and i can't stop weeing (Sorry TMI again!) However the only time i had a visit from AF whilst being on the pill was when i had to take antibiotics for bronchitus so i couldn't tell you the last time i had one!

Did a test this morning just to stop myself being paranoid and of course it is negative (BFN?) so at least i can convince myself its just withdrawal symptoms from the pill!

has anyone experienced this before?

Also whilst im a bit excited about TTC, i am also terrified to high hell - please tell me this is normal!

i am 35 and never wanted kids before meeting my hubby (good sign i suppose in a way lol) so have no idea how this malarkey goes once you start trying!

hello Smile

I came off the pill at the start of December, didn't have any sort of bleeding for just over 5 weeks. but I had sore boobs, crazy emotions, could smell everything! but it turned out to just be my hormones settling down..
fingers crossed AF shows up for you soon Thanks

adora1985 · 02/02/2015 18:26

It's probably your hormones settling down, it can take some time for the contraceptive hormones to be out of our system and your body to get into its real cycle. You can be extra fertile when coming off hormonal contraception, so worth giving it a good go to take advantage of this.

HRMC87 · 02/02/2015 19:06

I was the same as Rachelrawrrr. On the pill for 10 years, came off and OH thought it was his lucky month with all of the TTC. No bleed for 5 weeks, sore boobs, nausea and just when I had convinced myself I must be pregnant AF came, bloody hormones! But we must keep on trying! Good luck!!

DandelionWishes88 · 02/02/2015 20:26

Hello sleepydragon I'm also new to all this ttc. I was on the pill for ten years. I came off at start of October last year. I did have some same symptoms as you but think it was just my body getting back to normal.
But finally after 3 months AF came and now im fussing over ovulation tests and symptom watching.
I get so excited about what could / hope will happen but also it scares the hell out of me.
But I'm still trying and hoping
Giid luck xxx

scatterbrainedlass · 03/02/2015 09:21

Hey, I'm new too. Came off the pill (Evra patch) about a year ago and we are just starting TTC this month. Have to see how it goes. Like you, I'm still trying to work out some of these abbreviations on here!

Give your body time to adjust from the pill, it may go a little haywire for a while. Good luck, and don't forget to have fun while TTC!

SleepyDragon · 03/02/2015 11:48

Thanks everyone!

deep down i knew i wasn't PG so wasn't surprised when the test was negative, if anything Hubby was more disappointed than me as he was concerned over the cramps and dizzy bits i was having!

The cramps have dropped off a bit for now but still visit from AF.... and i swear i have put ON weight since coming off the pill was is even more crap! lol!

We've now been invioted on a holiday NEXT(!) Feb/March (we go snowboarding) and now i'm even more scared about what if and what if not LOL

i feel the need for Cake and Wine lol!

Hi sleepydragon! Welcome to the boards, from another relative newcomer.

I came off Cerazette in October and it took a couple of months for my periods to come back, so this month has been my first TTC. I think it's pretty common for you to have side effects like bloating/weight gain and cramps, and for your body to take a while to find its rhythm after coming off the pill, so don't be disheartened by the BFN. I think it would've been a miracle if it'd been positive!

If you browse some of the boards, you'll get a feel for how to track your cycles and work out when you're ovulating - but for now, I'd sit tight and wait for AF. It will come, don't worry!

Oh, and for acronyms see here! www.mumsnet.com/info/acronyms

SleepyDragon · 03/02/2015 12:22

Hi Sweets27 and thanks for the acronym link.... now all i have to do is memorise them lol

I think part of me is scared that because i haven't had an AF for so long (i think i had one when changing from pill to DP then from DP to cerrazette so about 4 years minimum)

Daft isn't it - you spend most of you're life worrying you might get pregnant then the rest worrying about what if you don't rolls eyes

lol

Don't worry - I was on Cerazette for 10+ years with no periods for at least 6 or 7, but 3 months after coming off it, my cycle seems completely back to "normal" (not that I can remember what that is, but I've had 2 cycles of 26 and 28 days with proper periods, plus a positive OPK test last cycle which means I've had the LH surge that triggers ovluation). So even if you haven't had a period for ages, I'm sure they'll come back.

totally agree on how frustrating it is, that you spend so much time worrying about getting pregnant if you so much as look at a boy - but once you start trying, you realise it's not necessarily quite so easy!

SleepyDragon · 13/03/2015 09:36

Just an update on the above....

My AF FINALLY out in an appearance yesterday (feeling like a miracle considering i had no withdrawal bleed.

I have never been so happy to have an AF

I sooooo do not remember the cramps being this strong/painful - owowowowowowowowowow

Hi SleepyDragon and all you other newly ttcs! I'm in a similar position - came off Cerazette at the end of Dec and hormones have definitely been all over the place. We started properly TTC this cycle.

My periods did return quickly which was good, although it all feels very different to before I went on the pill years ago (used to be very heavy, now not so much and very brief, plus regular which is unusual for me!) and I'm getting a lot of symptoms which I seriously don't remember - really sore boobs for at least half my cycle among other things.

I'm not sure if I got a positive OPK this month - there was a definite line for a few days but it never became as dark as the test line. But now of course I'm reading into the current nausea, cramps, teariness and insane hunger/thirst that I'm experiencing and impatient to get to the right time for tests!!

Good luck to you all, here's hoping we're all celebrating soon Smile
