when to start using OPKS

hi all

well AF has now buggered off, I'm on CD 7, I've got some of those cheap OPKs from amazon and I was wondering when roughly should I start using them?
Also, if both lines are equally dark, does that mean it's baby making time? or does it mean I'm ovulating and have missed my chance.... sorry I'm a complete newbie
