Anyone fancy talking me through ewcm? TMI alert...

So I am cd 14 and have a thick white discharge. Is this ewcm? If it is when should I be dtd. Does this mean I am about to ovulate or that i already have? My cycles have been 24-28 days in the last few months so is this very late in my cycle to be getting it?

EWCM should be clear rather than white. It should look almost exactly like egg white uncooked.
For me it usually shows up before day 14. Maybe from day 10, but it may vary for other people.
EWCM should also show up before ovulation, which is fine because sperm can last up to about a week.
If your cycles are 24-28, you should be ovulating at about days 10-14, and if ovulation occurs at day 14 you still have a window of about 2 days for conception at best.

Ideally, you should be looking at taking early morning temperature as well, or using a hormone test to check whether and when ovulation occurs.

Thanks for the advice. I've had no discharge until this point so does that mean I haven't had EWMC?

I started using the clearblue ov digi sticks this month but think I was doing it wrong (don't ask!!) so abandoned them until next month. I got 6 days of a high fertility but no peak.

It's not unusual to only have a small amount of CM. I only notice it when I wipe in a morning. Never have enough to see it in my knickers. I was convinced I wasn't getting any at all until this month when I checked a bit more carefully

And you should stick your fingers in there to check what type of mucous you are having.

I don't need to, but some people produce much less.

Zippy I put it into Google images as I had no idea either! Which was gross but I knew exactly what to look for and spotted it a few days later. TTC is quite the educational experience!!

So Lweji is that the order that you get the mucous e.g. if I'm creamy today does that mean I'm yet to get the elusive ewcm?

I just read that if you want to produce more you should avoid being dehydrated. Is this me giving up coffee then? Better up my water intake!!

Honestly, I wouldn't worry that much and just have sex somewhere between day 7 and day 16.

An ovulation detection method is only useful to see if there was an ovulation and so when to expect your period reliably. The famous 2 week wait.
