Have been off the pill for 5 months in that time I've had no period and almost certain I haven't ovulated. I took opk yesterday morning and there was a faint line so assumed negative. I did another one today and it was darker. I don't know if they are giving me false readings as I'm doing them in the morning? This is a photo of today's. Is it still negative?

Hi Gin,

I have the same ovulation sticks from Amazon. The first month I was feeling as confused as you are Confused

The picture that you have uploaded shows a negative. You will see it clearly as soon as you get a positive one. The line should be REALLY dark, even darker than the control line. Don't give up and keep testing!

The reason for having faint lines is that we have lhs hormone through all our cycle, but the day before ovulation you get a Lhs surge that is what makes the sticks go really dark!

I would also recommend you to POAS in the afternoons-evenings since the Lhs surge normally starts to build up in the mornings so if you POAS in the mornings you might miss your surge. I normally get 2 days in a row of positive results.

Good luck!

Aww thankyou so much that's really helpful! It's nightmare not knowing where I am in my cycle. Will keep testing. I'm glad you said that it's really obvious when it's positive I was worried I was missing it all

Also just to let you know, OPK's don't confirm ovulation, they just confirm that you have had a Lhs surge, if you want to confirm ov' you should take your temperature. I have never done it but If you want to go down that route there is lots of ladies here that can give you advise with that and your chart readings!

I know so confusing! Believe me it's really bold!

If you have had no periods for 5 months then I would seek medical advice sooner rather than later. No periods - no ovulation and it is also possible anyway to have periods without ovulating. Using OPKs at all in such circumstances is a wasted effort.

I have been to my dr they told me to go back after 9 months :(

I get a faint line like this leading up to ovulation, then two days of dark lines for ovulation and then completely blank for the rest of my cycle.

Marmite27 · 25/01/2015 14:06

I took a pic of my last positive one. The line should be darker than the control with an OPK.
