Confused - positive result

I took a test yesterday morning on what I think should have been the day my period was due. The result was positive!

However have re-tested twice today and both tests have been negative. Does that mean chances are I'm not pregnant? I understand a false positive us rarer than a false negative or am I kidding myself that I might be pregnant.

What kind of test did you take?

Yesterday's positive test using FMU was with Clear Blue Digital. It stated pregnant 1-2 weeks.

The first test today was using a Clear Blue non digi test. Using FMU I got just one line in the box ie not pregnant. A few hours later I re-tested using a digi test again and got 'not pregnant' result.

Am confused and sad as this month was our last chance of conceiving before deciding to give up.

I say try again tomorrow with a digi and FMU.

Apparently levels surge a bit in the beginning. I would say the first digi is correct and that you're only very very early which is why the "few hours later" digi said not pregnant as well as the non-digi (lines are hard to spot!)

FMU only as you've got the strongest concentration then. Stay hopeful!

You must be very early.. retest on another morning when you've given your hcg a chance to rise. Congratulations!

The hormones are strongest concentrated in your first wee of the day. Likely later wees were more dilute and as it's such early days the later tests didn't pick up on the hormones. You can't really get a false positive so test again in a couple of days, congratulations.
