Last time we tried for a baby, I got pregnant with twins on the first cycle. They're now 16 months old and we're in our first cycle of trying for number 3. My question is this

Ack, stupid phone! Pushes post too soon! Does the fact that I got pregnant so quickly the first time mean that I'm more likely to fall pregnant quickly the second time as well, or was it probably just dumb luck?

Ds2 was 0 months of trying, a happy accident the one time we didnt use contraception that month (a bit pissed!). Then ds3 was four months of trying.

(Ds1 about 8 months)

DS was unplanned (despite contraception!), DC2 (still cooking) was conceived first cycle of trying (and 13 years later).

Probably down to dumb luck although my brother was 1st attempt and I was a delightful accident Grin so genetics may play a part?

I conceived both my sons first month of trying. See my other thread about current potential chemical pregnancy (this is first month of trying).

I have no idea if there is any science behind it. I am tempted to think it is just very good luck. However my mother used to always joke that she just had to look at a bed to get pregnant.

I think I read somewhere if there are no known fertility issues, and sperm meets egg in a cycle, you then have a 1 in 4 chance of conception.

No idea if that is true!

Once we worked out my cycle, I got pregnant immediately with DC1 Second time also straight away.

SophieBarringtonWard · 19/01/2015 13:54

My mum got pregnant 3 times on the first cycle of trying.

Me, DC1 was an accident, DC2 was first cycle, MC was 4 cycles, DC3 (inshallah) 2nd cycle.

So personally I would try to manage your expectations a little. It's perfectly normal to take some months to conceive.

I would say no, but actually I think my experience was primarily my age so maybe, who knows!! Good luck!

Metalhead · 19/01/2015 14:26

You might well get lucky again, but I wouldn't count on it. First pregnancy for me was on cycle 2, second on cycle 4 which ended in mc, and since then - nothing (now on cycle 10).

I got pg with dd1 1st cycle, then again 1st cycle (mc) then 2nd cycle, then dd2 without trying at all!
