High heels and fertility?!

It says in 'Closer' magazine this week in an article relating to a Victoria Beckham that wearing high heels can make you infertile. According to the article high heels 'encourage excessive forward tilting of the pelvis' which can 'affect a woman's aility to conceive'.

I have never heard of this before. Has anyone else?

Being only 5 ft 2 and a fan of high-ish heels the article caught my attention!

sounds like hokum to me.

i read something a few months ago, in grazia i think, saying much the same thing. worried me about the time but put it this way, it went out of my head until now.

i guess they could just as easily say.. off the top of my head .. that flat shoes are bad 'cos you get more reverberations from the pavement or something.

despite 6 months of trying and being slightly frustrated i'm now just thinking .. what will be will be. access diagnostics' fertility tests show me and dh have the 86% likely chance of being able to conceive etc etc so .. leg waggling ahoy

talking of flat pavements tho (other subject entirely here) is it just me that cant' STAND those bloody bump things on pavements near trafic lights, junctions etc. i'm told that they are there for blind people, so they know they're on the edge of the road. but god does it kill if you walk over those in heels. ball of your foot burns. well mine does!

over and out

Total b*llocks.

IMHO!

Minshu · 17/10/2006 21:39

Sounds distinctly unlikely to me, but what a headline!!!

Being a shoe lover, it certainly grabbed my attention, but won't alter my behaviour.

MrsMcJnr · 18/10/2006 12:34

Femaleofthespecies - sorry this is a total hijack! Can you tell me a bit about the fertility tests you took? I have been on the access diagnostics site a few times and am always too overwhelmed by all the stuff to read up on things properly!!

FemaleoftheSpecies · 18/10/2006 13:24

hi mrs mcj hope u well

i just got the man/woman one - it's about £30, bit less withthe previous buyer discount (you send them an email after your first order and they bounce back with a registration code; fro then on you save 5%).

for your £30 you get 2 mens tests and 2 womens; womens just like an ov test or htp; measures fsh level - 2 bars of same darkness means fsh level too high, one bar means neg, and you're okay.

you also get 2 mens tests - bit more complicated; they get a lovely funnel to play 'with' if you get my drift. once he's done the deed you let it 'liquify' (sp?) for an hour i think, and then add some just too hot for comfort water; then it sits for 1/2 hr i think; has to go a dayglo mauve/pink to show he has okay mobility; as per the female test its only 86% accurate.

i'm not sure about the fertell test and whether they add anything more to the basic package as i got above - any ideas anyone?

its put my mind at rest. one thing to mention; might be worth timing your man's tests to coincide with second half of your cycle, as he can't have erm, ejac, for ten days before. with both tests they recommend you repeat for accuracy.

that's the basic gist of it anyway; my time lengths for the test might be a bit out but otherwise is an accurate summary

rubbish

Juicylucythe2nd · 18/10/2006 14:18

What a load of old tosh.

I am totally beginning to believe that your influence on it all is only slight whatever you do.

Agree about those ball things near ped crossings though. They're a buggar.

MrsMcJnr · 18/10/2006 14:38

Thanks Femaleofthespecies - I have ordered twice from AD and have never known about the discount damn it!

JL2 and Piz - and you are you two? nice to see you on here! how are you feeling?

Iklboo · 18/10/2006 14:41

It's probably more likely to be due to the fact that she looks like she weighs about 3 stone wet through

ready4motherhood · 18/10/2006 19:03

Hasn't Victoria Beckham got 3 kids?? And I've never seen her in anything but high heels.

pianomummy · 18/10/2006 19:24

Maybe they mean if you're ttc while standing up in high heels...

FemaleoftheSpecies · 18/10/2006 19:38

there was a flurry of articles about it.. the term it's given is visceroptosis

ivillage wrote about it here

FemaleoftheSpecies · 18/10/2006 19:40

maybe he's a short man and is threatened by us girls in our heels a la tom cruise..
