Hello,

We have always been keen to ttc on honeymoon which is a couple of weeks away now...however looking at my cycle I should ovulate a few days before we fly off. My husband thinks it doesn't matter and we can conceive at any time (!?), but I know after ovulation the chances drop considerably.

We are happy to see what happens in that week before we go, but I'm worried if I were lucky enough to conceive first time this would be right before travelling..so will I feel sick while on honeymoon? We are away for two weeks...period is due the day we return.

How soon after conception do most people start to feel sickness etc?

I don't drink so I'm not worried about having to be careful while away - I just don't want to waste a beautiful holiday in thailand being sick...but I would love to conceive!

Any advice welcome,

Thank you!

I'd wait until you get back, if it was me. What's the difference if you wait one month? I'd rather be sure of feeling good while on honeymoon - its such a special holiday you really don't want to be feeling ill or having to watch what you eat and drink the whole time. Just enjoy your honeymoon and TTC when you get home.

You won't feel sick so soon. It generally takes a minimum of 6-8 weeks of pregnancy before hormone levels are high enough to start causing nausea, even in sensitive women.

If you do manage to conceive, that little dot of cells will take days to implant in the uterus lining and pregnancy hormones will be barely up and running by your period due date.

I would go for it!!! You will not feel sick before your period is due. And your soon to be hubby is wrong, intercourse just prior to ovulation is the key. Good luck! Smile

When I conceived the DTs it was on the 18th of the month. On the 26th we flew to America and jet lag hit me so much harder. By the 28th my boobs were feeling weird and I was ravenous all the time, and alcohol made me really sick. Tested on the 30th. I guess my experience might have been exacerbated by twin pregnancy hormones but that was my timeline for what it's worth.

Wow thanks so much for the quick replies!

I would so love to go for it! The sickness idea is all that's putting me off as I would hate to spoil our time away..so in that respect, Juneau I see your point for sure.

But otherwise, if sickness so soon is unlikely and we are both super keen to at least try - maybe we should start the week before we travel...just wish I was ovulating a week later instead!

So sickness before period is unlikely you think ? I actually have horrible periods and often feel sick and grumpy in the run up anyway, so maybe I should stop stressing !?

I'm probably wayyy over thinking it here - is this what happens when you start ttc!?

Thanks so much all of you x

Yikes, okay @andadietcoke...that's certainly swayed me back towards waiting a little bit :) x

If I were you just get cracking. You never know when you are going to fall pregnant so don't put it off. You may be still there in 6 months time without a BFP kicking yourself! Just go for it and let Mother Nature take care of the rest.
Congratulations on your marriage btw!
