Two days late...should I test?

Hi,
I'm a first time poster so please be gentle with me!
I'm two days late for my period with slight nausea (Not sure if thats nerves tho!) and I'm not sure if I'm just getting my hopes up. Took an OPK earlier because thats all I had in the house and got a really strong line, but I know from reading other threads that this is a really unreliable and it was probably a bit silly of me as its only made me more confused...

Should I nip to the shops when DS wakes up and get a test? If I was pregnant would a test taken in the afternoon be reliable?

Thanks so much for your replies, have put it off so far because I've got my hopes up so many times before and only got negatives.
