New to temping - some questions

TTC, I've started charting my temperature this month - BBT seems pretty low but there was definitely a rise in temp at day 13.

Now well into the luteal phase, the chart looks like a mountain range, temp occasionally quite low - any ideas on what this could mean?

Also - my temperature during the day seems to be all over the place, again sometimes really low (not that I'm taking my temp all the time! but have occasionally when just can't seem to get warm) is this a problem as BBT is only based on temp when I wake up?

Mine looks like a mountain range too, don't worry!
As long as the temps post ovulation are generally higher than pre ov then you're fine.

Mine is really different if I take it throughout the day, eating/drinking, moving around even talking can affect it - I guess that's why they say to do it at the same time every day following solid sleep. X

With temping you need to do it at the same time each day and as soon as you wake up (after a few hours sleep) to get consistent readings. Also, if you drink alcohol this can cause it to be higher than normal and so can colds etc.

I did however find a consistent pattern that my temperature was less than 36.40 pre - ovulation and more than 36.60 post ovulation without being very strict with those rules.

Oh and good luck. I found once I got the hang of it I could track ovulation with very little problems but I also used opks and typically got a positive opk and ewcm followed by a temp rise 3 days later.

I've just discovered that my thermometer is giving different readings every time, but they stabilise if I keep the thermometer in my mouth and wait for a couple of mins before reading it (ignoring the beeping)
...hmm, that's one months' readings discounted then
