Did anyone 'just know' they were pregnant before testing?

I've heard lots of people in real life mention that they 'just knew' they were pregnant. Did anyone on here feel that? And were the right or wrong??

I suspected with both my children and wasn't surprised at all, more 'thought so', but not sure I ever definitely 'knew' before testing.
I was however certain from the moment I found out that they were both girls, and they were.

Did anyone 'just know' and how often were you right or wrong?

I've "known" about 5 times. Twice I was right Smile
I'm feel pretty confident I'm pregnant right now. I've just felt really good about this cycle from the start. Haven't tested yet but odds are in favour of me being wrong Grin

professornangnang · 17/12/2014 18:10

Couldn't stop weeing and I knew then that I was pregnant

kalidasa I have no idea what my luteal phase is now. Prior to DS1 I knew exactly, I had 28 day cycles and actually ovulated in cd 14 with positive opk's, I charted everything and was completely textbook. But since DD2, my periods have been anything from 27-31, generally 30. I haven't used opk's just taken the view that it will probably happen at some point. Is luteal phase linked to progesterone?

BlanketOfStars yes I know how that feels! A few times I gave been really astonished AF has shown up. But I think this time I really can feel it physiologically. I totally get feeling positive about cycles. Very exciting, when are you due to test?!

Prof yup in wazzling away!

*DD1 not DS1!

Yes every time.

kalidasa · 17/12/2014 21:35

Blue - yes I think progesterone is partly what sustains the luteal phase so if yours is low it can mean you have a luteal phase that's too short for successful implantation (even if you are in fact conceiving). I did natural family planning for years (fertility awareness method) so charted v carefully which is why I knew this stuff. Am quite impressed in retrospect by how effective it was given how fertile I obviously am!

bluewisteria · 18/12/2014 12:11

Ooh that's really interesting!
Does it alter after each child? I've felt very different in my cycles after birth.

Yes, with DS2. I was convinced I was pregnant - even though DS1 was an IVF baby and we were told we'd never concieve naturally. I definitely knew.
I just felt a bit "off".

kalidasa · 18/12/2014 12:58

blue I'm not sure but I'm sure it can. My cycles have been a bit more regular since having DS, but I also noticed over my years of charting that they were in general more regular when I had a partner! It was almost as if my body didn't bother with ovulating as much when I wasn't sleeping with anyone . . . I have always had pretty variable cycles though, which is partly why I charted for so long, even if I was single - it meant at least I knew when my period was going to arrive, otherwise it was completely unpredictable.

IShallCallYouSquishy · 18/12/2014 13:06

Yes with DD. We were on holiday and I stopped drinking as I "just knew" even though we didn't POAS until we got home a week later. Sore boobs, shattered and lack of appetite.

DS? Not so much. POAS to prove to myself I wasn't pregnant and my boobs weren't really tingly and no period was due to depo. It was positive. Went to see MW end of that week. Had scan a week later. I was 16+4 Blush

Damnautocorrect · 18/12/2014 13:11

Yes I knew, found myself clutching tummy and talking to it!! Even though I was on contraception didn't have periods miss and could only have conceived 4 weeks ago. But somehow I knew

MeMyselfAnd1 · 18/12/2014 13:35

I just knew, straight away. I also knew it was a boy. When they told me it was more likely to be a girl, I thpught "that can't be right", and lo and behold I got a boy.

isolemnlyswearthatimuptonogood · 18/12/2014 13:41

I knew. My sense of smell always heightens. I smell everything in technicolour! Car fumes bother me to the point of sickness and I can't fry meat without wretching. I also get soooo tired, like falling aslesp anywhere and just sitting on the sofa and next thing I know two hours have passed kind of tired.

bluewisteria · 19/12/2014 14:25

Thanks ladies!
I'm only due on Monday earliest, 28 days but sometimes cycle is 32, but I completely broke this morning and got a light positive on first response test! But then I got a 'not pregnant' on a digital... I peed in a cup and dipped both tests from same pee.

So now I'm very paranoid it will be an early mc as it isn't showing on clear blue digital. Am I being ridiculous? Should I step away from tests till Monday?! I know I should but so hard to do!

I knew I was pregnant!

I'll try and upload a pic.

Exactly three months after birth of first child we had sex and I knew within the week I was pregnant. I'd been walking the pram in town and had to sit down, felt odd. Went to Boots and bought a twin tester. First test negative (too early), but second test done after another week was positive. Shocked as was breastfeeding and thought I'd be safe Shock. Second child born two weeks before first's 1st birthday.

bluewisteria · 19/12/2014 14:42

Ah that old Breastfeeding chestnut!!

Many congratulations though!

Don't worry Bluewisteria digitals are usually not as sensitive leave those for a few more days. If you have a 2nd line you are pregnant! Congratulations!! Grin

I got a BFP so that brings me up to 50% accuracy! I have to say the feeling I've had the times I was right have been much stronger.

bluewisteria · 19/12/2014 14:50

Blanket!!! Congratulations! Do you know your 'due date'?
I think I'm 1st September... Eek!!! Can't believe it! My first two DD are Christmas babies so I assumed another would one along the same time of year!

Here's the pic, I'm not imagining am I?!
I'm fairly certain the line is pink rather than evap.

My husband knew. I said he was wrong because I poas and it said I wasn't. He even told his best mate! A week later I broke up a banana for toddler DD and nearly vomited on her. I did another test as a formality.

BlanketOfStars · 19/12/2014 16:00

That is definitely a line! Grin Congratulations!! Do you know when you ovulated? I've been temping so working based on ov day which was the 3rd my due date would be around 26/27th Aug. I'm so excited I can't believe it! We've been trying for 2 years for our 2nd baby Grin

bluewisteria · 19/12/2014 16:13

Oh wow, I'm thrilled for you!! Wheeee how exciting!!!

If I'm on a 28 day cycle then 31st Aug, but I'm anything from 28-31 days. I wasn't monitoring ovulation but I think it was 8th dec based on twinges but twinges didn't stop! Have terrible cramps still which is adding to my paranoia!!

Galaxy2014 · 19/12/2014 18:53

The only symptom I had was I've felt really tired the past couple of weeks. (which isn't normal for me) Then I had the warning symptoms for AF which is sore boobs and cramps, however I took a cheap pregnancy test on Tuesday just to see and it came up with a 2nd faint line - I thought it was an evaporation line so then took another the next day. Same again - Then got a clear blue and it said I was 2 -3 weeks pregnant so obviously the tiredness was it.

Annoyingly still crampy so must be my body getting use to things and I'm bloating so a lesson to be learned is please don't all think AF symptoms means your not pregnant as in my case I was :)

Twinmum94 · 20/12/2014 14:27

when i was pregnant with the twins i knew about a week before i could test. i had no symptoms but just a feeling. i had just miscarried, 3 weeks before so when i discussed the possiblity with dh he told me i was being stilly, a week later and i got my BFP!
i have the same feeling now but i keep getting invalid tests...

Beachmummy3 · 21/12/2014 22:09

Hello, I go from 'just knowing' to thinking I'm crazy & it's in my head... Until today. I love poached eggs, only I gagged on one & the thought of finishing made me think I'd vomit..... Then, though I hate the smell anyway, dh came home from work & the smell of fags on him made me think I was going to throw up... Then he ate a bajhi (if eaten the same earlier and been fine with it) & I couldn't handle the smell of that either. He said 'you know you're pregnant don't you' in a matter of fact way.
Bfn but only 7-9 dpo if I did ovulate. Got 15cheapies left & a frer, so plenty to keeps going Smile
