Well as the title says :) I've chosen the worst time to get my act together and start my diet (again!!) I'm well overweight, in fact in classed as obese so I need to lose a tonne of weight. I know I need to be a healthy weight to conceive so there isn't much more of a motivator than the hope if a BFP :) I'm just counting calories until Christmas Eve (when we have our traditional Xmas eve meal of good old McDonalds!) and then back on track on the 27th when I will be returning to Slimming World.
If anyone fancies joining me, or even just to give me a kick up the arse, feel free :)

Well done on the weightloss dojo but sorry to hear you are feeling poorly.

Much confusion here. Temp back down and a static smiley face on the opks. Anyone else ever missed out the flashing smiley altogether?

dojo123 · 23/01/2015 18:24

twototango thanks. Trying to stay away from the Ben and Jerry's in the freezer, which I know will sooth the discomfort. I suppose it is good it's the greek frozen yoghurt stuff.

I've never used opks before but my understanding is that if you've being DTD EOD for a few days before you saw the solid smily you should be covered.

honeysucklejasmine · 23/01/2015 19:39

Thanks Dojo. We're hanging on in there. Well done to you, even if it is a bit sucky in the circumstances.

I didn't gain any weight Tues-Thurs whilst I was there which is great. I think it stems from staying with my sister so two meals a day were healthy and I could resist temptation for the rest of the time. I did eat a Twix though. And my sister made me a hot chocolate with all the trimmings. I guess it counts as "flexi-syning", as I don't normally use any. And also the 15 syn limit is designed for weight loss, so a little over that should only result in weight maintenance. (I guess a LOT over is when you gain!)

I am having a curry tonight. I am stressed and tired and just spent 1.5hr sorting out car insurance. But I am having a biryani and no naan, so I guess it's a "saintly" curry, even if it is from a takeaway. I think that's about 15 syns in itself, but I was syn free so far today, so I don't feel too bad about it.

Just looked at my old weight record. I started out as 17st10 in August '09, went down as far as 14st13 by March '10 Grin, then managed to go all the way back to 17st1 by Jan '11, followed by ever increasing numbers as the hospital stay increased and I stopped going. Blush

That will not happen again 4 stone in 6 months. Did it before, will do it again. And then keep going.

honeysucklejasmine · 23/01/2015 19:42

Oh, forgot to say ... they think he will be in hospital for another week whilst they process test results. We are going up again tomorrow and staying with DSister again (she's awesome) and I have taken photos of the menu pages in my recipe book of things I might offer to cook for her, i.e. what we were due to have on Saturday night. (Buffalo wings, dips and chips! 2.5 syns total)

TakesTwoToTango · 23/01/2015 20:24

Honey you are doing amazingly and you will get there this time!!

dojo thanks! we'll just have to wait and see what happens!

Hobbit19 · 24/01/2015 11:10

Ooh well done everyone, you are keeping me on the straight and narrow too! Honey if you can manage to stick to your diet with so much upheaval and stress then that is awesome. Dry January has gone out of the window here as DH has had Ofsted and now my parents are here for the weekend, neither of which are conducive to dieting/being teetotal/ttc! However I did go to the gym this week and did the park run this morning so feeling good about that, will weigh tomorrow, hoping to get to target weight by the end of the month, then just have to stay there!!

Ainat266 · 24/01/2015 11:17

Sorry all. I sort of introduced myself a few days back and then sort of disappeared!

I am trying to figure out a few things.

When looking at weight loss do I count from my highest ever weight (last August) or from when I started dieting again (November) or from when I started trying to low carb at the drs recommendation (mid-Dec)? Does it even really matter? Lol.

From my highest August weight I've lost 15.2lbs. From mid Dec I've lost 7, so just over a pound a week. I don't believe I look/feel any different from August though.

I think I need to set myself a day to weigh in each week. Maybe Saturday as I'm going off the weight I was this morning. And I need to increase my exercise levels. My local gym has loads of classes on offer that I ought to try out, but I feel like I'd go in and be surrounded by very fit people and that I'd be really embarrassed...

dojo123 · 24/01/2015 13:43

Hi Ainat. I wouldn't necessarily go back and log the weight you were in August nor the weight in December. Just think of them as how far you have come.
I would log today's as your starting point. You've done really well up to this point but this can be your new start.

SpamAnderson · 25/01/2015 09:34

Hello lovelies! Just weighed this morning and have now reached 6lbs lost! Quite pleased really considering I'm 7 weeks pregnant tomorrow :) I'm eating what I want but I feel like everything is pushing on my stomach so where I had space before for a massive meal, I can now only manage a snack. Long long way to go to get to my goal weight but if my weight can steadily creep down until I'm due, I'll be a happy girl! Stressing out now that I'll be marked as high risk and not be allowed to use the midwife led unit :/ I think the only way to escape this is to refuse weighing :(

Spam -6 ??

OP posts:
dojo123 · 25/01/2015 10:39

spam that's really good news. Hope you're feeling more positive about it all, you should be. I hope you are able to go down the midwife lead route but as I know from other friends and family who've had babies recently it can all change at the last minute.

Keep your plan as the focus rather than a wishful thought.

SpamAnderson · 25/01/2015 11:54

I wanted a water birth with dd1 but was afraid to ask, with dd2 I wanted a home birth but had to go in as the midwives were busy at another homebirth. I had a horrible labour with dd1, I was treated pretty badly and it was much nicer with dd2, but as this is my last time, I want the birth I wanted with dd1. I'm older now (29, I was 21 with dd1) and know my mind a bit better so wont be afraid to say what I want. An emergency changing the plans is something that doesn't worry me but being treated like poop again, being bitched about right by my bedside and being injected with pethidine against my will (like dd1!) is something I won't have repeated :)
Definitely feeling more positive about everything but the consequences of my weight, had an emergency scan the other day and little jimmy is in there in the right place with a strong heartbeat so the rest is up to me!

dojo123 · 25/01/2015 12:27

I'm so sorry you had such a bad experience with your first. Now that you are older you are able to stand your ground and demand what you want rather than being dictated to.
Glad to hear everything is going well even if you had to have an emergency scan the other day. I hope you do achieve the water birth you want this time.

SpamAnderson · 25/01/2015 15:10

Thank you :) I hope so too :) fingers crossed I can keep losing weight rather than gaining and by the end maybe I won't be considered high risk!

You are doing well spam, it's so easy to eat for two, but keep it up I'm sure you will meet your target.

Well done on your loss dojo, hope you are feeling better now too.

How is your brother honey? Hope he is doing ok and you are managing to stay on plan with the visits to the hospital.

I have been slipping into bad habits this last week. Overeating one day then starving myself the next day to counteract it. I just wish I could be normal and enjoy food without being so greedy but that's not me I have such a bad relationship with food. I am having a good day so far today. Had a sneaky weigh in and somehow managed to maintain so I'm going to try extra hard until Thursday for my official weigh in.

Ttc has gone off the radar dh is away with work for 2 weeks so no chance of bfp for me.

Hope everybody else is well and enjoying a nice relaxing Sunday.

MrsGingerbread · 25/01/2015 15:39

Hello everyone,

We are all doing really well. :) I hope the scales are kind to me tomorrow.

Spam what is the bmi that makes a pregnancy high risk? That sounds like a great goal!

I'm feeling a lot more in control. I'm only calorie counting (target 1500 during the week and 1600 at weekends). I have downloaded the simple calorie counter app which I love for planning what I am going to eat. :)

SpamAnderson · 25/01/2015 16:47

mrs from what I've been reading, 35 is where you become high risk and have to be consultant lead care :(I was enormous when pregnant with dd1 and dd2 (3 stone 4 gained with dd1, 2 stone 13 gained with dd2) but wasn't high risk then. My bmi is sadly above 35 at the moment :(
Thanks 21 I did the eating for 2 with the first 2 and the 'I'm pregnant, I'm allowed' too! Not this time though! It's blooming tough to get off afterwards!

Hi ladies. I'm really enjoying slimming world and have lost 8.5lbs since the start of January. Really hope this will help ttc as we're on our 6th cycle, 7th month now.

honeysucklejasmine · 27/01/2015 21:19

Hiya!

Sorry for radio silence... Bee. Bit hectic with hospital visits etc. Had a relatively bad weekend, food wise, so was afraid to step on the scales. I braved it today and its not moved (thank fuck!) So I am holding steady at -13lbs in four weeks. Pretty pleased. I had a down day and thought "oh well, fucked it up now" but managed to pull out of it and think about how much I lost already and how much healthier I felt eating fresh food and no bread. Grin

SpamAnderson · 29/01/2015 11:23

Hi ladies! Weighed this morning and am now at 7lbs off since the 2nd :) pretty pleased with that as I haven't been dieting at all, just getting full quicker :) worked out if I can lose 18lbs before I let the mw weigh me, I'll be below 35 bmi and not be high risk. So now, that's my first mini goal :D

jellypi3 · 29/01/2015 12:33

Is slimming world good? I am tempted to go along to a session on Tuesday. I'm worried my OH won't play ball and do it with me though (he doesn't need to lose weight but needs to eat better)

21questions · 29/01/2015 15:16

Hi everyone I weighed in today and I have lost 2 this week so now at -16.

Feeling loads better already, just hope I have the willpower to keep it up. My goal is to lose another stone and see how I feel that's my happy weight but could probably do with losing another stone on top of that

Well done spam and honey.Smile

I've never followed slimming world jelly but know a lot of people who have had success with it.

MrsGingerbread · 29/01/2015 15:43

Wow. Well done everyone. We will be a lot of (pregnant) skinny minnies in no time!

I am another lb down, so that's -11 for me now and still feeling very upbeat about the whole thing. I think this group is really helping :)

Off on holiday next week though. Hope I don't throw all my hard work away!

dojo123 · 30/01/2015 10:01

I haven't weighed myself this week as I have been properly coldy and have eaten slightly more than I usually would to try and fight it. I think I will have put on a couple of lbs which is frustrating but I'll try and get back on to it properly on Monday. Also I am two days late and no BFP so think AF might be lurking somewhere.

Well done to all I've you who have kept on track this week.

Ainat266 · 31/01/2015 13:17

well done everyone. :-)

i am 2lbs down this week. Not sure how. its been a stressful week and I have been snacking far too much. That and we had fish and chips for dinner on Thursday as we spent our evening in the urgent care centre at the hospital and neither DH or I could face making dinner... (hospital trip was for DH, but he's fine). so yeah, very happy with my 2lbs.

dojo123 · 01/02/2015 14:27

Morning all.

Well I think I got a BFP on a CB+ yesterday morning. Had the same result this morning. We're doing another couple of tests tomorrow to hopefully reassure us that we are pregnant.
This means I won't or shouldn't really be continuing with the 5:2 diet for the next 8 months. I'm going to continue with the recipes as they are low fat, low GI but I'm going to ensure I don't miss any meals or eat too few calories.
