Oh and they have since changed their policy (I don't know if it's just for the area or anything further) that any one with an anterior placenta that says the movements have changed/reduced must be sent straight for a scan and monitoring, they didn't do this before my dd apparently, they would just check the HB.

Siarie · 23/12/2014 17:43

That's so helpful! Honestly you might not realise it but it is. I've been well and truly whacked from the inside, in fact I got hit so hard last night I threw my hands out and jerked in shock!

I had my blood flow checked at the 20 week scan as I have my thyroid problems. Apparently it's not routine, do you think maybe if they had checked yours it might have shown up?

I would find it hard to move on from that midwife but you're right it wouldn't have changed anything.

Lulu have you ever been concerned about movements?

Cupcake92 · 23/12/2014 17:50

Thanks everyone. Just sucks it's happened twice in a row :( didn't think it would happen again. Thought I'd already had my go. But hey can't do anything now.

And Ducky that sounded awful! Flowers

Sorry cupcake Sad what happens next? Do you have to go back?hope DH is looking after you Thanks

Siarie I had a private scan at 24 weeks with dd where the blood flow and everything was fine Confused a friend of mine lost her baby a couple of weeks later, she was 38 weeks, she went in with reduced movements, had a scan and everything was ok but they wanted her back in the next day for more monitoring and they were going to induce her the day after, she went in the next day to find he had passed in the night Sad it just shows even if you get monitored and it's all ok, you should stay at hospital/go back as soon as until you are happy with everything Sad

Bearsinmotion · 23/12/2014 18:28

So true ducky, a friend of ours had a baby 'die' while actually under observation in the hospital. They knocked the mother out, did an EMCS and saved the baby. She was due the same time as DD and I was terrified after that!

So sorry cupcake :( Flowers. Your time will come.

LuluJakey1 · 23/12/2014 18:34

No Siarie, he is a good mover. But I have a friend from university who was 34 weeks pregnant and went to see her midwifejust for a check up. Everything was fine. It was lunchtime and the midwife asked her if she could go back that afternoon for something be ause the nurse had gone off on lunch. GP surgery was literally at the end of her street. She went back an hour later and they could not find the heart beat. Literally it had been there an hour earlier and was gone an hour later.

Like Ducky she had to go through a labour in the hospital. She had three miscarriages as well and a baby born with his intestines ouside his abdomen who needed an operation at birth. He is as fit as a flea now - he is 8- and she has 2 other healthy children from normal pregnancies.

I have another friend who had 14 miscarriages and in the end adopted. She was 35 when she got married and had them in 5 years.

LuluJakey1 · 23/12/2014 18:36

I have just had an hour's sleep on the sofa. DH put a throw over me. I feel slightly better for that.

Ducky23 · 23/12/2014 19:30

Oh how awful for your friends lulu Confused TTC can be so so cruel sometimes.

Hi ladies!
I'm finally in ML and had the time to read the previous posts :)

Cupcake, I'm so sorry for you... I don't know what to say, I'm really sad for you and hope you'll nevertheless have a nice christmas with DH and DS. By the way, how did DH react? Is he supportive? Lots of hugs! Flowers

Ducky, the loss of DD must have been awful... It's not easy not get worried after reading your story, but I'm happy to know that even after such difficult moments, you managed to conceive a second and lovely child, your healthy DS! :)

Lulu, I hope you will have a good night of sleep! It's amazing to think that your little boy will soon be in your arms! When is your term precisely? :)

Bears, I know our pregnancy are very close, but could you remind me your term?

I had my 32 weeks scan today. My cervix is still reduced: only 19mm. But my doctor doesn't seem preoccupied. He told me to keep calm and my DH is being very supportive. He did the laundry and the cooking today. My baby is also really active and that is reassuring. My next scan will be in January, at 36 weeks. I'm just a bit scared as we will spent new year in Italy and have to make a 5 hours road trip to get there, I hope everything will be allright.

LuluJakey1 · 23/12/2014 19:50

I am feeling unwell again, hot and cold at the same time and so achey. The bowels seem to have stoppedbut my tummy is sore. I don't feel sick.Am wondering if it was prawns I ate last night. DH didn't have any and he is ok. I haven't eaten all day because I feel grotty.

PIL and family were lovely but I was glad when they left. DH has done everything today. I have just preformed while they were here.

LuluJakey1 · 23/12/2014 19:51

40 weeks on Jan 4th Steph. D Day.

Cupcake92 · 23/12/2014 19:57

No don't need to go back. Everything has already happened. I knew it had. She said take a pregnancy test in 1-2 weeks time and it should be negative. And to ttc straight away. I saw her last time and she's lovely, she told me to go for it and she wants to see me back for an early scan next time and wants to see a little heart beating! She said it'll happen for us and is looking forward to seeing all with a healthy baby :)

Having a lovely evening with DH and DS. I'm so lucky I hae DS. He really is my darling angel like I always call him :)

There was a horizon programme on a few weeks ago about still births I didnt watch it but they said a large number could be prevented if they did a scan to test blood flow to the placenta at the 20 week scan . Luckily my hospital is one of only 2 or 3 in the country that offer it as part of the 20 week scan .
Babies really are our little miracles . Cupcake give your ds an extra squeeze tonight !

Ducky23 · 24/12/2014 01:39

I heard about that programme poppet, I couldn't watch it but am glad more people are becoming aware of still births.

Cupcake the snow dome isn't far from me! Smile Unless there's more than one. Ha

Cupcake92 · 24/12/2014 08:40

Wow that's teally good of ur hospital poppet! Wish ours did that at the 20 week scan! I think it would help a lot of people if they did!
My auntie had a still born at 37 weeks. And that also happened overnight. It was awful. The funeral was so upsetting. She'd had previous misscarriage's also but she also has 2 other children one was born after her still born. It's sad. They go to his grave every year on his bday as they've moved away now, but always come back for his bday.

I've added a pic. It's DS sat in between the settee and pufeè (sp??) with his feet up eatin his toast haha :) he's amazing. He's my miracle!

and Ducky I hope there's not anymore snowdomes!! Confused takes me 45 mins to get there Grin

That's what I was talking about, my hospital only did it because of my health conditions. But it must have taken them like an extra two minutes? I wondered if it helped for that.

Merry Christmas Eve everyone by the way! X

Siarie · 24/12/2014 09:00

He lools really cuddly cupcake! Christmas must be super special with children

Ducky23 · 24/12/2014 09:32

I think the hospital I go to does it at the 20 week scan but only then.

Realy wish they would make it so you can see pics on the app! I feel like I'm missing out lol!

Hope you have a nice time cupcake Smile I learnt to ski there Grin

LuluJakey1 · 24/12/2014 12:42

I am still not well. I am just exhausted and achey. Feel like I have been hit by a steamroller and I feel sick at the sight of food. I actually slept last night. Have manged two cups of tea ths mornng and some water but it is Monday night since I ate aything.

We set out to go for a walk and got about 50m along the bridleway and had to come back. I was just bone weary. However, have not been sick ad my tummy is settling- not running to the loo.

I am going to try Heinz Tomato soup at tea time- comfort food!
