We only managed an hour's walk and the temperature was really falling so we came home. The sky was really grey and heavy. Has it been snowing anywhere? It hasn't here but it is definitely cold enough.

DH is going along to the pub to meet his friend he cycles with. DS and I are staying in next to the radiator and keeping warm.

Ducky23 · 17/01/2015 17:34

It's been freezing here! We've had the heating on all day!

It snowed here last week, it was one of the days I had to take ds to the hospital, I put him in the car and then put my keys in to turn the heating on while I scraped the windows and my window wipers came on and threw snow all over me! Confused

LuluJakey1 · 17/01/2015 17:43

We haven't had anything like that yet Ducky.

How is DS today?

Ducky23 · 17/01/2015 18:05

He's pretty much back to his old self Smile I am so so happy.

Does it sound stupid to get the consultant a thank you card? I only saw him briefly and he will probably have no idea who I am but I think after a very difficult few days he was the only person to listen and not judge me (I kind of felt the rest of them treated me like a paranoid crazy lady)

LuluJakey1 · 17/01/2015 19:25

It doesn't sound silly at all. I would write just what you have said in it because he needs to know that. He might be able to influence things lower down. I think he would be very pleased with a card.

Cupcake92 · 17/01/2015 19:34

Lulu what a lovely walk that sounded! Wish we had somewhere like that to walk. And it's been quite nice here just a little chilly but not too bad :)

Ducky the doctors in my surgery love it when they get a thank u card! :) and even though they've only seen some patients once they know exactly who they are and always seem to remember everything about them! It's crazy! So yes I'd say get him one :)

I'm a bit emotional tonight !! :( at 5am this morning I woke up to banging and went into dS and he was trying to escape his cot! He's been doing it a lot recently but this time he was almost over! If he had carried on he'd have rele hurt himself :( so.... Today we cleared out all the unsafe things in his room, brought another stair gate for his door and a new bed guard! :) took a side off his cot and put the bed guard on! so he's now almost turned his cot into the bed! (It's a cot bed)

Can't believe how fast he's growing up :( where's my little baby gone??? :( but jm so proud of him! :)

I have been takng DS out for a walk most days, as long as the weather has been OK. We usually go to the village or for a walk along the sea front or to the lighthouse. He is well wrapped up and we don't usually stop to chat to anyone- everyone is at work!

One of my friends rang and we were chatting and she said her HV told hernot to take her DD out for walks until she was about 6 weeks because their immune system is not very good at first and they get colds/viruses easily and their temperature regulation is not good and they can get too cold.

I am really surprised. No one has said this to me. HV came this week and jnever commented and I told her we were going out. All she said was it was good exercise for me.

I don't want to stop but don't want to put DS at risk. What does anyone think?

LuluJakey1 · 17/01/2015 19:44

Aww Cupcake! He is very i quisitive and that is good. He is learning how much he can do.

I think the best time to have another one is when the first one leaves home Grin At your age, you could do that but I will be in my late 50s probably so we might just stick to one, although DH would like lots but that is definitely NOT happening.

Ducky23 · 17/01/2015 19:54

Oh no cupcake! Can he easily get in and out now?

Lulu my midwife said it wAs good excercise and I've never been told not to take ds out. Infact I was told it's very rare for them to get a cold at this stage. As long as he is wrapped up I'm sure he's fine. Smile When I take ds out I have him in his vest, socks, sleep suit, snow suit, hat, mitts and a blanket. Smile He's lovely and toasty

I will go and get him a card tomorrow Smile I have a follow up appt with him in 3 months to be referred to the dietitian so don't know whether to wait until then to give it him or if I can post it.

LuluJakey1 · 17/01/2015 20:20

Thanks Ducky. I am just going to keep on with what I am doing. He seems very happy with it and has been fine and I enjoy it too. People do seem to get lots of different advice from midwives and Hvs over different things.

Isn't it amazing how much difference being on this food has made so quickly to your DS? I think it shows how good a mum's instincts are. You knew something was not right, whatever they said. Has his mouth ulcer healed up now? What name did you give him in the end?

Cupcake92 · 17/01/2015 21:05

Lulu my HV and midwife told me walking would be good for me and DS. I had to walk often due to my csection as they said Its better for me to be up and about as id heal better and she said it was good for DS to get fresh air.

Ducky he can climb in and out safely now so I'm feeling much better knowing he won't fall from a great height!
As Lulu said its great how much a difference DS's new milk has made! :) so glad he's better. And we'll done u for pushing to get him seen :)

He's been in bed an hour now but hasn't moved lol! I'm so nervous! Hope he copes well with it being a bed! Just want him safe, don't think I'll be able to sleep tonight Grin I'll be constantly checking on him.

OP posts:
Ducky23 · 17/01/2015 21:50

Did he go to bed ok cupcake? I bet it was exciting for him!

The mouth ulcer wasn't an ulcer at all in the end apparently! Which made me angry as they prescribed painkillers for him! The consultant said it was a spot which is just one of the reactions he was having to the milk Blush i was made to feel like an idiot, especially by the gp practice, one time when I called up after they wrongly diagnosed him the lady went 'oh let me guess, it's you again' Blush then I saw the same lady when I went in and looked very proud of myself when I handed her the letter from the hospital diagnosing cmpi Smile she's been lovely ever since when I have been in to get his prescriptions and things!

Ducky23 · 17/01/2015 22:04

Oh and we called him Jesse, like of breaking bad :,)

Cupcake92 · 17/01/2015 22:46

He went to bed fine Ducky sat n read his Thomas book and drank his milk :) he loved it!
Just heard him moving around in bed just now so I'm staying awake a bit longer just to make sure he's okay Grin
I don't get why doctors can't diagnose the right thing 1st? That's their job isn't it? At least he's all okay now :) and Omg omg Ducky that is an awesome name!! I love it! :)

OP posts:
LuluJakey1 · 17/01/2015 22:49

Jesse is a lovely name Ducky. I really like it. I must say your experience over the last couple of weeks has made me really worried about the quality of some of the people you've seen. It isn't very reassuring is it?

DS hasn't had his supper yet. He is lying on his tummy on the baby mat. I am encouraging him to lift his head up. He tries but it is a bit early. He is starting to get frustrated so I am about to do the bottle. They just become your whole world don't they? I love watching him and he is so snuggly. Grin

Cupcake92 · 17/01/2015 22:54

Lulu what did u call ur DS in the end? And yes they most definately do become ur while world! Grin it's wonderful! :)

I can still hear my DS wiggling about.

Cupcake92 · 17/01/2015 22:54

Whole world that should say!

LuluJakey1 · 17/01/2015 23:42

Joseph Guy. We call him Joseph, Joe, Joey, Jo-Jo and JoeyJoJo. Ridiculous really. He won't know who he is. He is fast asleep now. I am in bed and DH is in the bathroom. He has had 3 pints which means he is feeling amorous and has that rather sexy look he gets when there is going to be kissing. There might be kissing and a bit of something but not DTD definitely not. Grin

Cupcake92 · 18/01/2015 02:36

Oh yes I rememeber now :) i love that name, seems to have a really nice ring to it,'Joseph Guy. Aaww cute! :)
Haha Lulu u do make me laugh Grin I can't wait for the day where I can say 'no more dtd for a long time!!' Grin

DS made it till 2:30am. I can hear him wiggling again. Hoping he's not going to wake up! I want a lie in! :)

OP posts:
Ducky23 · 18/01/2015 08:25

How did he sleep in the end cupcake? Ds has been awake since 5! So I managed about 3 hours last night Blush

Lulu you are brave! I'm still of the opinion I'm never DTD ever again Grin

It is scary Confused I worry now that I'm never going to trust the gps with ds again until he can talk properly and tell me how he's feeling Confused

He's just sitting in his bouncy seat, he's started to reach out for his toys on the bar Grin

Cupcake92 · 18/01/2015 08:55

DS woke at 4:30 as the heating didn't go on for some reason and he was freezing! He's been awake ever since tho Grin he just sat up in bed and shouted, he only climbed out of bed when I came into his room! So that's very good! :)

Ducky I'm with u there with 3 hours sleep! And as with DS u'll always know what's wrong with him, so u just have to keep pushin doctors each time, as a mom always knows what's wrong :)
N aww bless DS! He's learning! :)

LuluJakey1 · 18/01/2015 09:56

Typical DH after more than 2 pints. He got into bed, cuddled up and fell asleep. He just can not drink. So there was no need to disappoint him. Grin
TBH I think he would be as worried as me about DTD - he was so shocked by the birth.

No snow here. Bit of blue sky and it was raining but it has stopped. DH is taking his old lady friend Elizabeth shopping later and then bringing her to meet DS and stay for tea.

I need some fresh air so I am about to go for a walk and take DS. Have a nice day everyone.

Ducky23 · 18/01/2015 17:05

Think AF is going to make an appearance soon Blush

iamdivergent · 18/01/2015 17:47

I didn't get af for about 10 wks after mine were born - I bled for about 5 stopped for a couple days then started again
