We've had a right day with lots of little things going wrong - never mind!

Ducky he has 3oz every 3 hours ish. Ends up about 21-24 oz per day. How much is DS having? It is what they told us at the hospital.

He has been awake almost all day, including at the Registrar's. We took him out for tea in town afterwards and he didn't seem to mind at all. He has been asleep about an hour, finally.

DH was very proud at the registrar when she made a big fuss of DS. He insisted on holding him and was telling her about how good he is and how alert he is.

Ducky23 · 08/01/2015 21:17

Ds was having 4oz every 1-2 hours, sometimes a bit more Blush then in the night he usually has 60 - 90 ml an hour, he has gained weight fast. BlushBlush

I made him go 3 hours and he wasn't happy at all but I stuck by it. He has another hour and 15 mins until his next feed Confused I just feel so evil!

LuluJakey1 · 08/01/2015 21:34

That does seem a lot Smile Little glutton! Where is he putting it all? He looks very well on it in his photo though. Wink

He will adapt. He can have more than DS bcause he weighs more. How much did they say to give him?

I am going to have a look at Cupcake's DM article.

Cupcake92 · 08/01/2015 21:47

Ducky can I suggest something?
Have u considered (that's if he doesn't have an intolerance) putting him on hungry baby milk? I did with DS and it worked a treat! Made him sleep longer and he was fuller and more satisfied with the amount of milk he had. So he ended up waiting longer between feeds :)
Hungry milk changed my life for the better! It was the best decision I ever made!

And bless Lulu hopefully he'll be a good boy and sleep rele well tonight for u :)

Oo siarie spd is awful! So painful! :( and Omg that was ur comment!! Aww! :)

Well Cupcake, that DM article is a typically nasty piece of writing by them. DM readers are never kind to anyone- except I will say in their defence, they always contribute generously to animal welfare causes. But they aren't kind to people! I wouldn't lose sleep over the comments.

Ducky23 · 08/01/2015 22:24

They didn't tell me how much to give him just to feed on demand :-/

I was thinking that cupcake, will see what the HV says tomorrow. I have to call and update them Smile

Cupcake92 · 08/01/2015 22:31

Lulu the comments don't bother me at all :) I had one person message me today telling me what an inspiration I am. So at least ive touched one person! :)

And Ducky HV may tell u not to put DS on hungry milk as they say they are meant to advise the first milk, but when I showed my HV what a change it made in DS she took back what she said and told me it was a good move for him lol. And then another HV told me Ds's head was over sized hahaa Grin

PIL are bringing Grandmas to visit on Sunday. They are very excited about meeting DS. SiL is coming on Wednesday for the day. I hope he behaves.

He has had his feed and is wide awake, lying on the bed looking quite composed. DH is explaining the concept of a good night's sleep to him. He is showing no interest at all Grin

He is going into his moses basket in a moment and that is that. not going to be held to ransom by a 9 day old baby

Siarie · 09/01/2015 11:35

A family visit Lulu thats nice, do you live far from your relatives? I'm so jealous of all the lovely baby time you are all getting. All I'm getting is kicks but I just want to start being a mum now.

I'll probably change my mind in a few months when I miss my sleep.

Cupcake92 · 09/01/2015 13:01

I hope he slept for u Lulu! :)

Siarie u will miss sleep so much to begin with but then u just get used to it :) I can't imagine sleeping later than 8am anymore Grin

Sounds kind of silly but we have two cats that wake us up for their breakfast so we are usually up early anyway. But the hard slog is going to be getting used to waking up at night feeding/changing then going back to bed.

What I was thinking (and tell me if it's totally unrealistic) is I could do something like this at night:

9pm - I do the feed and change nappy
12pm - DH does the feed and any nappy changes
3am - I do the feed and change nappy
6am - DH gets up for work and does feed and change nappy

Then I do the next ones, I was thinking that way I could go to sleep after the 9pm feeding session and I'd get to sleep until 3am. DH would be able to sleep from 12pm to 6am and any time before the feed. I don't know how realistic that is though but I'm all for routine.

Ducky23 · 09/01/2015 17:40

Lulu I bet they will love him Grin

Siarie, you will be amazed at how little sleep you can function on, I found this out Hmm

Still have an unhappy man Sad I want my happy baby back

Cupcake92 · 09/01/2015 18:29

I love routine siarie. dunno what I'd do without it! Routine rele helped dS to sleep well. I proper stuck to it and in the end made my life air easier :)

Aww Ducky ur poor DS :( I hope he starts to be himself very soon. Lots of cuddles for him :)

OP posts:
Ducky23 · 09/01/2015 23:26

I posted earlier but it's vanished!

He has improved slightly, I didn't beleive it tbh when they told me but reading about it he does have the same symptoms of over feeding and it's often diagnosed incorrectly as reflux which is what i originally thought it was. The midwife told me he is the best consultant to have for this type of thing so I am hoping he's right and ds gets back to normal without prescription formula

Cupcake92 · 09/01/2015 23:54

Bless him :) he'll get there Ducky. Least he's improved a bit :)

I've had a right sh*t day today. It's been a day where everything goes wrong lol

LuluJakey1 · 10/01/2015 00:11

Well, all 3 of us are awake here. DS has had a feed and been changed and is he asleep?........NO.

He is lying awake quite happily in his moses basket next to the bed, making little noises and waving his hands around.... while we are lying just waiting for him to doze off. Why isn't he tired? We are.

He has hardly slept today. I thought new babies slept lots. He likes to be cuddled or to sit in his chair and just look around and move his hands and feet. He will sometimes lie on his mat with a baby mobile above him with toys on it and it is musical. But he can't do anything really so he'll get bored soon. He was awake for most of our walk, dozed off at the end and as soon as the pram was in the house he was awake. He sat in his chair while I made tea then on my knee and we watched Jeremy Kyle Blush Tonight he has lain ontop of DH all the time we were watching 'Charlotte Grey'. He should be worn out.

The cats give him a wide berth. One of them sniffed him this afternoon and looked quite disgusted as she stalked off. Grin

Ducky23 · 10/01/2015 04:16

Haha bless lulu, ds seemed to have days like that! Wide awake ALL the time!

How are the cats wht him (I take it you have more than one?) ds met my friends cats the other day and one was so terrified of him!

Ds just slept 4 hours 45 mins Confused is that normal do you think? It's so difficult with this overfeeding business

Cupcake92 · 10/01/2015 08:25

Oh dear Lulu I bet uve been very tired! I bet he was just intrigued at everything and taking it all in :) I hate to say it but they do sleep a lot as newborns Grin they sleep less and less as they grow up!

Ducky how old is DS now? As they grow older they start to sleep in bigger chunks :) by 9 weeks DS slept 6/7 hours at a time. So I think ur DS is doing brilliantly!

LuluJakey1 · 10/01/2015 09:03

Ducky, that's fantastic. You must have got some sleep!

So did we. He slept for two blocks of 3 1/2 hrs ish each. He is out with DH for a paper at the moment. They have walked into the village. It's sunny here but windy. He is in his puffa suit.

The cats are just not interested. They would like to get in his chair when he isn't in it. That's the most interesting thing about him as far as they are concerned.

DH this morning after a night's sleep. ' Well, d'you fancy making a start on the next one then?'. It was a joke. I didn't laugh.

Ducky23 · 10/01/2015 17:50

My replies keep vanishing! Confused

Ds seems a bit better today, was like his normal happy self this morning, had a bit of a wobble about an hour ago but I think it was just his tummy ache, he's lay next to me on my dressing gown watching sons of anarchy Grin

Posted a long reply twice today but it's not showing Confused

Ducky23 · 10/01/2015 17:50

Oh and ds is 5 weeks on Monday Grin

LuluJakey1 · 10/01/2015 19:00

That's good Ducky, it sounds as if he is getting back on an even keel and will soon be completely himself. Hope you are feeling better too.

It started to rain here- like sleet- about half one. It is freezing cold now and very windy. We haven't been out this afternoon. DS has been 'entertained' by his daddy who has been lying on the floor next to him wiggling toys around and making noises, singing and giving him cuddles. DS looked baffled by him at times and was scared at one point when DH was demonstrating animal noises- his tiger roar was particularly fierce.

He seems to have managed to tire DS out. He is now snoozing quite happily and we are having a bit of peace and quiet and have just had tea. He has a very cute scowl and pet lip which we saw this afternoon when he didn't like the animal noises.

Ducky23 · 10/01/2015 22:01

My new worry.... Ds hasn't pood now in about 24 hrs! There's always soem thing! Confused Although some sites I read recon that's a sign of improvement?

Apparently what he has is known as lactose overload Confused he does seem better still, although he became very very upset after his 6ish feed Hmm

LuluJakey1 · 10/01/2015 22:15

Ducky, apparently once they get to a month old the rate of poos slows down and they can miss a day quite easily so I wouldn't worry. Wish DS would slow down. Grin He is a good pooper.

Cupcake92 · 10/01/2015 22:56

Hope everyone is okay today! I'm so tired it's been a long day doing lots of jobs! So much tidying and food shopping etc!

Ducky glad DS is improving! :) and as Lulu said I wouldn't worry if he's missed a day of poop lol! He'll make up for it tomorrow trust me! Grin

Lulu ur DH seems to really enjoy entertaining Ur DS bless him! I bet he's loving being a daddy :)

Well I think I'm out this month already. Turns out I ovulated yesterday or day before. Me n DH dtd 4 days ago. He's been obsessed with talking to his mates and playing on ps4 n not even wanting to dtd. I'm so annoyed :(
