Hello,

First time on here so not completely sure how it works! Also if anyone is able to explain all the acronyms used that would be massively helpful.

Hubby and I are planning to start TTC straight after Christmas and I was just wondering whether people have any advice regarding supplements, diet, conception etc. I am veggie by the way.

Also I currently have the copper coil which I believe shouldn't affect your fertility once removed but just wanted to see whether people had any experience of this?

Very excited about getting started but need to remember that it might take a while! Am so used to being told that no contraception immediately means pregnancy that in my head I imagine getting pregnant instantly.

Thank you in advance :)

Acronyms here: www.mumsnet.com/info/acronyms

My advice, don't try to overthink it. If you do you will become an emotional wreck like the rest of us!

But on a serious note, eat healthy, start taking folic acid and vitamin D, get a fertility tracking app (fetility friend, ovia etc.) and if you are really mad then you can try temping and using OPK's to track ovulation. But my docotrs advice was shag every other day, and eventually your egg will be surrounded by sperm!

Good luck!

Don't do it!!! Xmas Grin

Be prepared for the emotional roller coaster the next few months years will bring.

Forgot to say good luck Flowers

Thank you :) am definitely over thinking already but will try and relax. Am on Pregnacare Conception and once Christmas is done am going to completely overhaul my diet!

Like you am just going to go with dtd often but if that doesn't work I can definitely see myself starting to obsess with OPKs. Thanks for the recommendation of the app, had no idea they existed :)

For a first timer I would say just keep taking folic acid and have sex as much as possible, especially when you are mid-cycle. Don't worry too much about diet overhauls etc at this time I had loads of fantasies about healthy eating before I got pregnant, and then had awful morning sickness and lived mainly on dry toast and biscuits for the first trimester. Good luck. xx

Thanks for the advice, I have all these good intentions but can see them going to pot once hormones etc kick in! Just going to aim to DTD every other day and will only start tracking of nothing happens after a few months. Just want to enjoy this time Smile

Hi Angharad,

Not sure if you're still checking this thread but DH and I are also about to TTC. I came of the mini-pill in mid-December and have just had first AF. Excited and nervous about getting too stressed over it all!!

nightandthelight · 13/01/2015 12:36

Hi ibk thanks for messaging (have changed my name). Come and join us on the February bus, everyone is very lovely and it's great to chat to other people in the same situation. Waiting for my AF next week and then I am going to be going full steam ahead!
