Hiya...
Im BFing my DS, not had a period yet but want to start the ball rolling (no pun intended) to have another one Is there anything I can do to make me start ovulating again? I dont plan to give up BFing for another 6 months so it cant be that!

Thanks x

How old is your DS?

QueenQuootieSpookypieBee · 09/10/2006 14:57

Does your ds sleep through the night? They say that once you do away with the night feeds you get your period back and hence ovulating. My period came back quite quickly once I stopped BFing at night.

I don't think b/fing stops you getting pregnant, although my GP said it was a tall order to expect your body to provide food for one baby whilst growing the next and I think there might be an increased chance of a premature baby if you b/f whilst pregnant. Not sure whether periods are necessary...

I was BF my DS2, also no periods, he was 9 months at the time, I'm sat here with 9 weeks to go before DB3 arrives!! I don't believe you stop ovulating, go ahead and try anyway, might as well have fun in the process!

Good luck with getting pregnant again (you brave lady!)

Thanks

Just read that back and it sounds silly. I mean you presumably ovulate before having a period so you might not need to wait for a period before starting to try...

Don't be embarrassed!

My periods returned when my LO was 8mths.
You may find that your periods start once your LO gets going on solids

I got pregnant with DD2 whilst BFing DD1 but I had regular periods since DD1 was about 8 weeks. Still haven't had a period since DD2 was born and she's nearly 9 months.

I was told that if you go at least 4 hours between feeds then theres a chance you will ovulate so dropping night feeds might be the way to go (easier said than done I know), my advice just have plenty of sex and see what happens

PS it's great having 2 close together too
