Found this pcm

A study published in the British Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology
in March 1998 discusses success rates in achieving pregnancy after
ovarian drilling. The study enrolled 118 women with documented cases
of PCOS and then performed the procedure on them over a five-year
period. The total conception rate within the first 12 months after the
procedure was 54%. Women who successfully conceived had had ?a shorter
duration of infertility, were treated with diathermy (rather than
laser), had higher pre-operative luteinising hormone [LH] levels, were
younger and were more likely to have ultrasonographic evidence of
polycystic ovarian disease.? When considering only women who had been
infertile for 3 years or less prior to the procedure, the success rate
increases to 79%.

Will look for more...

I'm good generally. Been feeling a bit pukey, but that makes me feel more positive than anything and it's not as bad as for other girls.

Spoke to my sister last night. That was upsetting. She's still in a state. I'm sending her all the info from the miscarriage/bereavement postings, so hoping that will start to help.

pussycatmomma · 12/10/2006 11:49

hs - who are you??? am seriously intrigued! pikelets????? that is definatly a piccie of a crumpet on your link.
God i need to get out more....

coggy · 12/10/2006 11:49

SOH.......................pikelet.....!!!!

HalloweenSucks · 12/10/2006 11:50

This one's better:

How Well It Works

Studies of women with PCOS have shown that ovarian drilling results in an 80% ovulation rate and a 50% pregnancy rate.1

Younger women and those with a body mass index in the normal range are most likely to benefit from laparoscopic ovarian drilling

HalloweenSucks · 12/10/2006 11:51

it's a pikelet

It's ShowOfHands btw!

pussycatmomma · 12/10/2006 11:52

sorry didnt see all the info you posted, was too busy typing. Well, i seem to fit in the criteria for the good stuff - ttc less than 3 years, scan showed definate pc ovaries, and i had v. high lh levels before the procedure. Gyny didnt me to have bloods done afterwards eg next month either, seemed to think it would add to pressure.
Yes, but at least i would have known where i am a bit more [grrrrrrrr]

OP posts:
coggy · 12/10/2006 11:52

Aha.............it's different to a crumpet cos it's flat not poofy!!!

coggy · 12/10/2006 11:53

More like a dropped scone but with holes!!

And yes....I need to get out more too!!!!

pinkranger · 12/10/2006 11:54

"In the UK, "crumpet" has been used since 1936 as a slang term for a woman (or, more recently, a man) regarded as an object of sexual desire. This slang usage also has vulgar applications, as it is sometimes used to describe female genitalia. Historically "Crumpet" has also been used as a non-sexual term of endearment "

Be very careful

pussycatmomma · 12/10/2006 11:56

coggs, im with you, crumpets have a definate depth about them, they are about an inch thick yeah? soh is obviously eating local food for local people

ShowOfBloodyAndSeveredHands · 12/10/2006 12:09

I was born in Derbyshire, as were my parents, though I grew up in Norfolk. Pikelet is a Midlands word for crumpet, but I grew up knowing no different. To me they will always be pikelets and crumpet always sounds so Carry On ie 'ooh matron, what a lovely bit of crumpet'. Anyway, pikelet or crumpet 'tis lovely with marmite. Yum!

I suppose you all call moldywarps woodlice as well? Weird bunch of people that you are.

PCM all the info on ovarian drilling success rates is either sketchy or incredibly medicalised. Will keep looking for you though (inbetween working laboriously obviously).

coggy · 12/10/2006 12:16

Don't even get started on the blinkin' wood louse!!!

moldywarp is a new one to me but......

sourbugs.......my family call them (S. East)
chiggypigs......everyone down here in the S.West
twitchbells......my friend calls them (Up North!!)

Weird eh?

BTW it looks as if you Midlanders sit on your crumpets!!!
....but maybe that is really rather rude after reading your other posts about their meaning!!!!!

PCM.....depth is definitely needed in a crumpet...!!!!!

trace2 · 12/10/2006 12:19

woodlice and crumpet' NICE

Hayls · 12/10/2006 13:10

I just thought I'd pop back in as I still recognise a few names from when I was ttc in January this year. I've been lurking on and off since then but haven't posted as didn't have much to say! I did post about the fact that we had decided to wait until next year before really going for it but would you believe that yesterday I did a pg test and it was positive??!! Anyway we are both totally shocked and tbh a bit overwhelmed- dh has been dumbstruck for a day now! Seems that I am 6 weeks now so let the fun begin.

Best wishes and good luck to all of you xx

trace2 · 12/10/2006 13:37

Hayls yes i remember you, and come and join me on june antinatal thread, i also was reading your posts other day, and when you came clean who you was lol

Natty1806 · 13/10/2006 11:25

PCM - have you been onto the PCOS web site they have a chat room and experts on it maybe they could answer the question about ovarian drilling or maybe there is a success story on there.

Anway it is here if you want to have a look.

pussycatmomma · 13/10/2006 11:37

hiya Natty, thanks for that hun. I was looking at it earlier actually. Tbh, i find the site a bit harder to navigate, probably because i am so used to mn. But there is still not much about the success of drilling. The more i read the more suprised i am that i was offered drilling first and not clomid. Im wondering why so many others have lots of drug treatments before any drilling. If i am not lucky before my next appt in April i might ask the gyny about it then.
I am cd18 today. But am obviously trying not to hope too much this month. After feeling better for most of week, some pain has returned today. Think i have been doing a bit much.....painted the little study room on weds, thought i felt ok. Now wishing i hadnt.
Although room is lovely now
when will i ever learn!
How are you today? what cd you on? is it your first clomid cyc this month?

OP posts:
Natty1806 · 13/10/2006 13:08

I must admit PCM that is not as user friendly as this site so i have never really looked on it much but thought it might help.

I am CD4 so nothing to report, second month of clomid.

x
