Hi! Newbie to the forums :) we have 2 children, 7 and 5 and hubby had a vasectomy almost 5 years ago.... Almost as soon as our youngest was born. He realised quickly after that it was a big mistake. We're speaking with our chosen surgeon in a week and booking the reversal, then it's all aboard the TTC train as soon as he's all healed up :) would love to have some buddies along the way :) it's going to be a fairly long journey I feel, our eldest took a year to conceive our youngest took 9 months with a early mc in between.

1moreplease · 05/05/2015 13:19

Thanks , I'm starting to freak out a bit now , thinking what if I'm not ovulating ?? Do the test kits really work ? so many sites give you different answers as to ovulation time Confused any tips greatly received Smile

2013MrsT · 07/05/2015 20:25

Hi ya 1moreplease, hope all is well x
You will get the hang of it all soon! Just one step at a time.

mrsstickll, doctor was ok. Not good but not bad either, will give it a few weeks and see then look at private tests if nothing has happened.

mrsstickll · 08/05/2015 21:18

Im off on holiday now so good luck everybody. Hope all goes well 1more, i had the exact same fears, make sure your other half gets plenty of rest x

NC1980 · 13/05/2015 09:37

Hi everyone, can I join? We are five months post reversal, we're not actively ttc yet as we are getting married this year. Which is driving me mad! We didn't have the SA tests, preferring to wait and see. I'm no spring chicken and it's worrying that we've left this late. OH was nine years post vasectomy which reduces our chances further. I feel like a ball of anxiety all the time, although Ido enjoy reading your positive posts. Is there anyone in a similar position?

mrsstickll · 14/05/2015 21:03

Hi NC1980, yes please join. Congratulations, when are you getting married? Are you sure the SA wouldnt put your mind at rest, theres so many variables.

1moreplease · 14/05/2015 21:10

Hi well were back and it's done Smile DH seems to be in pain I'm just making him stay in bed and giving regular pain relief , Mr Swinn the surgeon said there were no complications it all went well so fingers crossed . DH still has bandages and support on they've said 48/72 hours before removing them , what did any of your OH do ? Any tips on keeping him comfortable ? Grin

NC1980 · 14/05/2015 22:00

Hi all,
Mrsstickll thank you, we get married in October- very excited now! We both agreed early on he wouldn't go for Sa, purely because it what it could mean for anxiety levels if it was a bad result. Although my current anxiety levels are through the roof anyway, I think he was worried that it would be a disaster if we got a bad result because I don't have any children so it would be very difficult to come to terms with. how are you finding everything? It is very stressful isn't it? How long have you been ttc?
1moreplease, the only advice is lots of rest and pain relief. Unfortunately for us Christmas involved me running round shopping, cleaning etc whilst he hobbled about the house completely out of action!
Sorry I don't usually moan so much, just frustrated we can't start yet. I'd do without the wedding right now!

mrsstickll · 18/05/2015 12:38

Hows your oh getting on 1more,the hardest thing with mine was keeping him still, he hates doing nothing.

NC1980, i dont have any children either, its difficult, i didnt realise it would be so hard i think i was quite niave about it really, we've been ttc since december, try to keep yourself occupied with wedding planning?

tiggs15 · 18/05/2015 16:53

Hi ladies, me and my husband are considering trying for a vasectomy reversal as although we have 6 children between us (3 each) we don't have any together and would love to share the experience together. which surgeons have you used/ would recommend? We are Midlands based but would obv travel if it meant a better surgeon.
Wish you all the best on your journeys xx

1moreplease · 18/05/2015 18:06

Hi mrsstickll ,
Well oh's swelling seems to have gone down considerably we are 5 days post surgery obviously not back to normal ( out of interest how long did that take ?) he has some bruising and says they ache but can move quite well now . Luckily he's quite happy to do nothing ! He also works from home so resting has been easy Smile just very impatient now to make sure it's all working Wink x

1moreplease · 18/05/2015 18:11

Hi Tiggs15 , we used Mr Swinn Gatwick spire hospital , The hospital was really good they were very helpful and provided oh with great care , we are waiting to see how it's gone so have our fingers crossed Smile

mrsstickll · 18/05/2015 21:28

Hi tiggs15, we used dr lemberger at vasectomy reversal uk, everyone was really nice and took good care of him and we have recently found out the operation has been a success.

1moreplease, i think it was about 10 days, its good that the swelling has gone down already, oh says the worst part was the aching and this took the longest to go away

DaisyDuckSW15 · 19/05/2015 21:46

1more, we had ours with Mr Swinn at Gatwick in February! We're trying to work out a good time for hubby to have SA done now.
I share all your concerns... What if I'm not ovulating etc?! I've been using Clear Blue digital ovulation tests which seem to indicate the right things at the expected times so fingers crossed my husband's body is remembering what to do too!

1moreplease · 19/05/2015 22:28

Hi Daisyduck ! That was probably the only thing we were unclear on .. The nurses said to take SA to local hospital and ask them to share results with Mr Swinn , but Mr Swinn said to take them to Gatwick ?!? Our only concern is its an hour an half will it be ok for that amount of time ?? I'm going to email and ask again for confirmation .. What are you going to do ? It must be soon then Smile x

SpamAnderson · 24/05/2015 14:51

Hi ladies! Not been on in so long I thought I'd pop in and say hi! Hope everyone is doing well :)
Doing well thank you mrsstickll 24 weeks yesterday with my very blue bump :) He's doing well, making me suffer, but he's healthy so I'm happy :)

1moreplease, we have two plans. Plan A: hubby does what he has to do here, jumps in the car and drives to Gatwick. If traffic is okay, then that'll be fine but...
Plan B: He drives to the hospital. Pops to the loo. Does his duty. Hands it in fresh!!!

1moreplease · 24/05/2015 18:46

Wink that made me chuckle ! the fresh option will be our choice too ! X

Pitterpatter5 · 26/05/2015 17:55

Hey ladies,

Sorry I've not been in for a while... We are now 6months post reversal and so far nada.... I've already relaxed the bbt thing down as I did it for the first three months and kind of confirmed what I thought with O dates! Oh was stressed at work so I've been going gentle on the demands but trying to hit the right spots!
Also kind of hoped we would be one of the lucky ones who fell instantly as both he and I have kids which weren't really planned or hard work to conceive, we just would like one together...

Anyway, fingers crossed for everyone, I'm just about to hit my fertile week so suppose I should start the magic charm!

Welcome to the new ladies too! My hubby had his reversal with Mr Harriss in Nottingham 15/12/14, we were very happy with him and plan to get an SA done when we are back in the UK for the summer ( we work in KSA) .

2013MrsT · 29/05/2015 07:55

Hi girls, nide to 'meet' you all. We are just over a year post op now and nothing. Doctors were kind of helpful and are doing another SA but the wait is at least a couple of months but they seem to not want to test me until my BMI is down purely because if we need treatment they won't do anything until it is. On CD29 now so a couple days to go, been so busy with work that it has flown by.
Hope you are all well x

1moreplease · 07/06/2015 17:34

Hi ladies , just popped on to say !! DH recovered well, we dtd after 12 days as I was ov and he felt ok and af was due on the 9th but I've felt so sick and had incredibly sore boobs so I tested today and got a BFP Grin I can't believe it !! It does work and of course I totally recommend Mr Swinn at Spire hospital x

mrsstickll · 07/06/2015 18:07

Congratulations! What fantastic news xx

SpamAnderson · 09/06/2015 11:41
