Hi! Newbie to the forums :) we have 2 children, 7 and 5 and hubby had a vasectomy almost 5 years ago.... Almost as soon as our youngest was born. He realised quickly after that it was a big mistake. We're speaking with our chosen surgeon in a week and booking the reversal, then it's all aboard the TTC train as soon as he's all healed up :) would love to have some buddies along the way :) it's going to be a fairly long journey I feel, our eldest took a year to conceive our youngest took 9 months with a early mc in between.

I think we dtd after 7 days and all was fine, clearing the tubes is what I told myself. The tww is torturous had cold too so feeling extra sorry for myself

jellybean4 · 29/09/2015 08:16

Haha yes that's what my ot half said too. Ooh fingers crossed they are early teeny tiny symptoms. Everytime I fell pregnant previously I always felt really run down and full of cold/flu symptoms wayyy before I officially found out. Xx

JoMalones · 08/10/2015 21:58

How is everyone? Sorry I haven't been around. I don't think I ovulated this month but on the tww now

MrsG14 · 09/10/2015 14:26

Hi guys I am new to this site today and feeling rather anxious. The other half and I have just decided to have has reversal done. We have just booked an appointment with a sergeon to have a chat and talk it through wow Hugh day today. Potentially to day is the start of our journey and I have butterfly's in my tummy lol. Did anyone else have these feelings way before even the first meeting?

Tropicality · 11/10/2015 18:46

Hi, I am new here.

My Husband had his vr in June 2015 after 20 years. Thought we'd prefer to try the more natural way before IVF. He has three children from his first marriage.

First sample around one month after vr showed a zero sperm count. Did not go back to re-test.

Two days ago I took a clearblue test and got a bfp! Surprised...we took another and got another bfp. If correct, I'm around six weeks pregnant. Due to have a scan later this week.

I've been reading a lot about sperm quality and the increase chance of miscarriage. Does anyone have any insight into this? I'm worried about the high chance of miscarriage in this first trimester.

JoMalones · 14/10/2015 20:04

I got my bfp! V nervous but excited. I'm sure it's all down to reflexology this month

jellybean4 · 15/10/2015 03:35

Awww that's great news for you both. So heres my story.... before my hubbys vr on18th sept we had planned to not ttc until out 10th wedding anniversary next sept.....however the excitement of the possibility of being able to conceive again had gotten the better of us and so we have already started! Lol. I've never had problems conceiving in the past and have had 4 quite straight forward pregnancies and healthy babies for which I'm thankful everyday. So as you can imagine this is all new to us. I have started charting and this is the first month since the op. If im correct I ovulated on 11th/12th and we dtd 3 times around these days. So here I am on my first ever tww and can't quite believe how much it's taking over my every thought!!!! I'm not expecting to get a bfp as it's only a few weeks since the vr but I've read that it does happen so let's just watch this space ???? I'm very excited but nervous as have no idea if oh is even producing any live sperm yet. X

Tropicality · 15/10/2015 13:44

Congrats JoMalones. The last week has felt surreal for me. I wasn't expecting it, at all.

CallMeDaisy · 18/10/2015 19:00

Hi all, it's Spam (I name changed!) Just thought I'd give an update! My beautiful boy was born last month, he's now 6 weeks old. It cetainly was a shock after going from an 8 year old and 6 year old to a newborn again but he's absolutely awesome :)
Congratulations Jo and Tropical

jellybean4 · 18/10/2015 19:31

Ahh congratulations!!! My youngest is 6 amd i think ive forgotten what is like having a newborn baby...Am I right in thinking that you conceived the first cycle after your dh's vr??? This is our first cycle since my dh's vr and i'm day 7 of the dreaded tww!!! Wish us luck!! Xx

CallMeDaisy · 18/10/2015 22:02

It was funny in the hospital, he woke and started crying and we were a bit 'erm, what do we do with that??' We were all settled by the next day though thankfully.
Yes shockingly! I have short cycles and short luteal phase, my period started 4th December, op on 5th December, started ttcing on 18th dec and bfp on New Year's Day :D I had an early loss before dd2 was conceived so was very nervous it was a Chem pregnancy. Especially as dd2 took 10 months to conceive!
Good luck jellybean I hate that 2ww :( with my girls I didn't find out until 4-6 weeks, I knew I was pregnant with ds1 From about 7dpo, mainly before I got morning sickness with him from the very start all the way to 30 weeks! The girls just made me tired! We're hoping to be able to have another (yes we're mad! But I figure that makes ds1 half price ;) ) but am not looking forward to having to temp, chart and the 2ww again though!

MrsG14 · 19/10/2015 07:39

Congratulations on your baby can any give me a break down of all the short cuts your using please? Bdf, dd2, dpo, bfp? I am so confused lol

CallMeDaisy · 19/10/2015 13:19

DPO is days past ovulation
BFP is Big fat positive
DD1/2 etc is Darling/Dear daughter 1, 2 etc
DS is darling/dear son

Quite why they're necessary on forums I don't know but DD/DS at least keeps it a bit more private than using their names etc :)

JoMalones · 19/10/2015 20:37

Congrats Spam! My youngest is 4 and doesn't sleep through yet so hopefully won't wake each other up!

jellybean4 · 19/10/2015 20:52

Ahh spam I'm with you there....think I'm nuts too as this will be baby number 5!!!! Ha but I have had small children around me since I was 18 yrs old and I really do miss it.
I was trying not to symptom spot but my mind just goes into overdrive. I know I ovulated on the 11th as I had awful ovulation pain, which I usually get. But from 5dpo I've been having cramping af type pains and a strange pulling sensation in my uterus. My cycle is around 32-34 days so couldn't possibly have been that. Boobs are sore, every so often a get a wiff of something and I get so nauseaus! Plusbi woke up 2 days ago with a stinking cold, right out of the blue!! Havnt been ill in years. Stuffy nose, sore throat, hot flushes. But...I've just finished a very busy 13hr shift, havnt sat down properly sincr 7am and the abdo cramps are really bad tonight....have a feeling my period is on its way! ????have told myself that I won't be too disappointed as it will happen when the time is right. I'm a firm believer in everything for a reason. X

Barbs3 · 21/10/2015 08:42

Hi everyone. New to this forum. My hubby is having his op tomorrow and I'm having last minute nerves. Did anyone else feel this way?

mrsstickll · 21/10/2015 20:37

Hi Barbs3, I was nervous about it going ok but everything was fine, good luck for tomorrow everything will be fine hopefully your surgeon will reassure you too

Barbs3 · 26/10/2015 08:00

Hello everyone, thought id update. hubby had his op on the 22nd and it went really well. Surgeon said easiest he has ever done so I hope that is a good sign. He is 5day PO and no pain and swelling all gone down and off to work which I wasn't happy about but he has promised he won't put himself in a position where he could undo his pipe work. We have decided to Wait till nearer Christmas to start ttc (if we can resist) as I don't want to be feeling ruff over Christmas hols.
If I'm honest I'm terrified to start trying as I don't carry pregnancy well but I do love the bundle at the end. We haven't told a sole about op as I don't want to feel under pressure to get pregnant. We both had last minute doubts as we have 3 birth children 16,12 and 11 and a foster son age 5. My hubby is 46 and I am 36 we went through all the reasons why having another baby is a bad move like our age and having our hands full already but we know our children will be thrilled to have another baby and as for age well our child will love us the no matter what.
So hear comes the journey...hope our £2900 wasn't money down the drain!

MrsG14 · 28/10/2015 16:35

Just spoken to the hospital and booked the OH in for his reversal on the 11th bit of a shock I was planning in my head for the start of the year but now we might actually be dtd at the turn of the year instead. Feeling all excited and nervous, when did or do any of your recommend starting to take pre conception vitamins?

Roxanne140416 · 03/11/2015 06:43

Hi everyone!new to this but all these forums saved me from madness during my journey so thought I would share my story, and happy ending Smile
My partner had a vasectomy in his previous relationship and we both wanted children so looked at a RV.
We went to Mr Lemberg in Nottingham and he was amazing, but he got a 'hermatoea' (can't spell) and tbh don't think he rested enough and went back too work soon, we saw the success rates and were a bit naive and thought of course it will work..however it came back zero count I thought my world had ended. We went back to see Lemberg and he said he's hesitant at a 2nd RV but giving the infection and it's only been 2years since the vasectomy he would opt for another before the IVF route.. So we took his advice and did another one, I didn't believe in it just saw it as a cheaper option to IVF. So here we was again.. The operation took hours I thought something was wrong, when he came up the news was great, he said one side was totally disconnected so never had any chance and the other side was blocked from all the infection. So that have him faith that this time with antibiotics pumped from the off and no work and REST as the tubes are held by only 4 stitches he was hopeful.
We went for the first SA and it came back 8mil... Not the best but it wasn't 0!! And this was only 6wks after. He did everything, vitamins, orange juice, nuts, no hot baths! We went for the 2nd SA and it was 96million!!!!!Smile but 98% antibodies!!!! I was broken! But with the huge count still hopeful!
4months later i got a BFP!!! I'm now 16 weeks and still can't believe our miracle!! And to add to this I have only only 1 ovary and tube as I lost the other from an ovarian cyst!!!
So don't gove up! And keep faith even when u can't see the light!
Btw I'm 29 and he's 36! And I can't recommend DR regional lemberger enough! Changed our lives xxx

MrsG14 · 08/11/2015 21:24

Evening Ladies how soon after the op have your oh wanted to get jiggy :-) and have they had a higher sexy drive post op?

Pitterpatter5 · 09/11/2015 09:47

Hey guys,

Welcome to all the newbies.... I havnt been around for a while, concentrating on important baby making matters!!! Haha
Anyway the all important update, we are on #11 since the reversal, hubby was feeling positive for the first 6 but made me stop all the temping as he felt it was too much pressure on him, I managed 3 months so I pinpointed O which was good! We have hit it bang on every month without so much as a glimmer... I had a gut feeling something wasn't right and convinced myself it was me, paid for a specialist to see me and last check up is tonight but so far I've been given the all clear- bloods/ ultrasounds ect...
So back to hubby, first SA done in July and got a roses letter from the surgeon telling us of his success, however my specialist wanted to see the report, a week later, requested, received and devestated to find out OH has 100% agglutination :-( seeing the specialist tonight and he has already said he wants another sample but dear lord I think we are both gutted! Why would our surgeon not tell us about the antibodies?!
If nothing has improved I guess they will advise ISCI from the word go which I'm not sure we can afford! :-(
I'm hoping we get a little miracle, even if it drops to 99% there would be one that could make it!

I am pleased we have found the problem and that we can start to look at some sort of plan...

Good luck to all of you, I think we are unusual in terms of % of antibodies, so hoping this isn't the case for any of you!

Pitterpatter5 · 09/11/2015 09:50

P.s. mrsG.... Hubby was a rampant rabbit from day 5/6 I literally had to slap him away until we the date we were told to get busy!

Barbs3 · 09/11/2015 14:46

Hope it all works for you Pitterpatter. We dtd on day 6 with protection. One of his festivals swelled and was not painful but uncomfortable so he was given antibiotics and has been great since. His sex drive is the same. We are officially starting to ttc after 28th Nov. at the min we don't feel any urgency to be pregnant now that may change once we start trying. I had second thoughts after the op mainly due to the 12 yr age gap that would be from my last born. All feels new this time around smile]

JoMalones · 09/11/2015 18:12

Um we did it the day after the op!
