Symptoms when coming off the pill?

I've been on it for 18 months(ish) and came off it on 22 August. I was back to backing my pills a lot as my periods were monsters previously.

Since coming off I had a very insubstantial bleed - pretty much nothing. It's now day 39 and I've been having period type cramps on and off for about two weeks. We have dtd but tested yesterday and was negative....no idea when I ovulated although think I did as have had a ton of cm and some of it was ewcm which is good news. I'd guess ovulation was around 2 weeks ago approximately...seem to recall a lot of cm that week which has tailed off.

Not sure when my period will come back. Anyone else experienced cramping post-pill but period a no show? As I've been back to backing I'm guessing it's having quiet an effect coming off it....

I've been having on and off cramping, been off for 2 weeks. I think it's fairly normal. ALso my pill periods were vewry light and only lasted couple of days, as was my first withdrawal off the pill so I shouldnt worry :)

Sounds the same - thank you. It's day 40 now and no bleeding yet but no doubt Aunt Flo is on the horizon.

I'm the same. Stopped pill first week of sept. Uncomfortable in lower abdomen until friday just gone and had left sides back pain and abdo cramps for the last 5 days. Ewcm started Friday too but gone yesterday.

Same here - finished pill about 35 days ago, had v light withdrawal bleed and now waiting for AF. It's not cramping as such but there's been a constant almost pressure or heaviness for the last few days so I keep thinking AF is due to arrive but no sign yet.

I also had the world's worst headache after my withdrawal it lasted an entire week! Was so bad I spent all evenings in bed! But thankfully hat gone now. Now just have all the spots appearing... (Originally went on age 15 for acne, was hoping it wouldn't return doh!)

Givemecaffeine21 · 01/10/2014 12:42

Same here with the spots but they have cleared up now thank goodness!

I have also experienced strange abdominal pains after being off the pill for a few months. Not sure why though. Everyone’s experience with ovulation/periods after stopping the pill is different! Some women will begin to ovulate in a couple of weeks, but for other women it may take several months to begin to ovulate. Generally speaking, your body should be back to "normal menstruation mode" within two to three months after stopping the pill. For me it took, 4 months for my cycle to be regular.
Without knowing any further information, it is easy to assume that this is the pain with ovulation that can feel like a dull ache or cramp, or a sharp sudden pain, typically on one side. However, you should see your GP or gynaecologist, as more information (including a history and physical exam) is needed to make sure that nothing else could be causing this abdominal/pelvic pain.

I already know I have endo but my symptoms manifest differently with that...or perhaps not, I was on the pill for pain relief in the main.

Hi. did anyone come off the pill and NOT have a withdrawal bleed? I missed a withdrawal inbetween my aug and sep packs. Stopped taking them a week ago and still havent had a withdrawal.. nothing at all :(
I've never missed a withdrawal/period before!

butterflycats · 01/10/2014 14:21

it is possible Kiay especially if you've been stressed recently/lost weight/doing lots of exercise. Just make sure you're not pregnant already (!) and try to relax xx

Thankyou for taking the time to reply butterflycats - means alot. I dont feel like I can keep moaning that Im not having periods but its really upsetting!
I havent actually been overly stressed, and given that last year I went through a marriage breakdown and divorce and all the hell that came with it, and still had all my periods, trying to put this down to stress doesnt cut it for me :) But then I know that now I am making myself stressed over it...... vicious cycle!! :D
