And I just wanted to share!

DH an I have a 19mo DD who was conceived accidentally five weeks after we met (despite being careful). So neither of us has any experience of TTC. I've had a Mirena in since DD was a few weeks old and have booked to see the nurse tomorrow to have it removed.

So does anyone know what I can expect? My periods have stopped on this coil, will they come back quickly? Should I start taking folic acid now? And do I need to stop drinking?

I am massively nervous that we will not find things easy the second time round.

Hi Dorothy, I had my mirena out last month. I had a withdrawal bleed 2 days later and my first period in almost 2 years 28 days after that so it all seems to be coming back quickly Smile

Definitely start taking folic acid now just in case you get pregnant straight away. You don't have to stop drinking but cut back if you have a lot. Smile

Hope that helps!

Hi dorothy

I had the Mirena removed in July this year. I had no bleed until 28 days later and the same for aug-sept.
I started taking folic acid as soon as it was taken out just in case I fell pregnant quickly. At the moment nothing to report.

I had the Mirena in before years ago. It was in for 5 years- no periods at all- was removed in June 2010 and I conceived dec 2010 . My little daughter turned 3 yday.so fingers crossed you will be expecting no.2 soon :-) good luck x

Oh and I haven't stopped drinking at all, if anything I'm enjoying my drink as I know as soon as I get pregnant ( if!!) I will have to stop
