Over here all breastfeeding TTCers! Welcome to our thread - a place for us to come for support, information and to talk about the extra challenges of TTC while still breastfeeding.

Seeing as I filled up the old thread I thought I should start the new one!

For anyone who is new to the thread or needs a reminder, here are a few links to some useful websites (thanks Waiting for putting these together). I hope I've worked the links properly.

Yzma - it depends how serious you're on TTC. If you're not too bothered then I would buy the cheapie one step ov tests from Amazon or EBay. I've heard they're more tricky to see the line but reliable. I used the clear blue ov sticks. More money but really easy !

Yzma · 10/10/2014 09:24

Ah thanks pear
Think I'd better start monitoring - at least then I will have some idea rather than no clue at all!

YokoUhOh · 10/10/2014 13:03

pear I think I'm just used to him nuzzling up and latching on. I definitely need to just get on the night weaning, but I don't get any help so it's gonna be hard work :(

peardrop2 · 10/10/2014 19:09

I am crazy tired and I had a nap today with DS. Is it a sign? Wink Two more days and I'm testing woop woop! I still have no hope though as I feel nothing but pre menstrual and AF isn't due for another 10 days Shock

Yzma · 10/10/2014 21:20

Ooh could be pear! Fingers crossed for you.
Well I'll be damned but AF turned up today! Very surprised as dd's been feeding loads including at night.

Yoko, if he just wants the comfort could you de-latch him when he's gone back to sleep so he's not latched on for as long?

peardrop2 · 11/10/2014 05:57

Yzma - That's exciting! July baby for you then fx Wink

peardrop2 · 11/10/2014 15:05

Anything have you tested?

AnythingNotEverything · 11/10/2014 18:08

Yup. BFN. Testing every day. AF due tomorrow. No sign of it tbh. Maybe this is going to be a long cycle, but I'm confident of ovulation dates.

Grrrrrrr. Starting to think my tests are duff. Anything except the fact that I might not fall on this tome!

Will test again tomorrow if no AF.

ToesAndFingers · 11/10/2014 18:45

2ww here. No idea when I ov'ed but I think I'm about 8dpo give or take. Frequent peeing, bleeding gums and tired. There is that hope doubt that "maybe..." But I'm not convinced...

Feeling very emotional so AF is gearing up I guess. Another short cycle for me it seems.

On top of that DS puked up today in his car seat what looked like adult amount of vomit... On our way back DP hit a pheasant with the car. What a day...

Sorry about BFNs. Fingers crossed it's just too early.

YokoUhOh · 11/10/2014 21:02

Thanks Yzma, I think that's also part of the Jay Gordon method, so I'll persevere with the de-latching (and eventually refusing!). Good luck with testing, ladies.

peardrop2 · 12/10/2014 00:03

Anything ~ oh that's boo Hmm I enjoyed medium rare steak and lots of vino out tonight Grin Got to enjoy it whilst I can Wink

AnythingNotEverything · 12/10/2014 08:48

Another bfn this morning and no sign of AF, although due today. Grrrrrrr. Just want to know now.

hideandsqueak · 12/10/2014 09:31

Good luck! When do you usually test? I just ordered some really cheap tests off eBay that are just strips. Never used them before but assume they are the same as the pricier ones just without the plastic cover. Is that what the ovulation sticks are like? I'm thinking of ordering some as don't have a clue if/when I'm ovulating.

peardrop2 · 12/10/2014 15:02

Anything ~ just so mega frustrating sitting in limbo land isn't it! I'll test again in the morning and then that's me done testing for this month!

AnythingNotEverything · 12/10/2014 15:45

Pear I though your AF wasn't even due yet?! Don't give up!

It's probably too early to speak bit I have a niggle it could be our month.

I've been cramping since yesterday on and off but no AF yet. Although it's not quite due yet. If I go by the cycles since they returned it's due mon-thur. However the cramps are a bit stronger as pre AF and that's how I knew I was pg last time. However they are not as full on as last time so I don't know...

I'll be testing on Fri I think if no AF unless I get more convincing symptoms!

ispyfispi · 12/10/2014 20:28

Ooh good luck Toes!
I ordered some of the cheap ovulation sticks even though af has not returned yet 'just to check' but I haven't done a full month yet. If nothing else it's given me something productive to do!
Do you ladies think that at 11mo my lo is too young to drop feeds? I can easily distract him in the day and give him more food/drink but worry I shouldnt....so torn....

AnythingNotEverything · 12/10/2014 21:01

Ispy is definitely sausage was old enough. I've only been feeding morning and night since 9.5 months. We dropped mid morning feed and night feeds at 8 months, dropped afternoon feed at 9.5 months.

DD has been fine, but she's a great eater. We did naps out in the pram or car and offered food and water at home for snack time instead of milk.

AnythingNotEverything · 12/10/2014 21:02

Wtf?

That was meant to say:

Ispy I's definitely say she was old enough.

Damned iphone.

YokoUhOh · 12/10/2014 21:07

Madrigals that's good to hear! There are signs that periods might be on the cusp of return (weird mood swings, spots, changes in fluid) so maybe they're closer than I think...

peardrop2 · 12/10/2014 22:41

Ispy ~ IMO I feel only you know when is the right time. I also wasn't sure and spent weeks pondering when to drop day feeds. In the end it was a natural progression as I introduced cows milk in a beaker from 12mths. Slowly DS started to eat more in the day and I felt more comfortable to drop the daytime snacks he was feasting on but didn't necessarily require. I just did it slowly and stopped the week before he turned 14months and then AF returned. Now I continue to feed at 7am & 7pm. Hope my insight helps a little. I wouldn't worry. Just do what you feel is right for your DC, and you're allowed to change your mind on a daily basis Wink

Yzma · 13/10/2014 10:15

Toes and pear good luck with testing!
Yoko before mine returned I noticed mild cramping for a couple of months, more cm and very sore nipples for a few days before it actually showed up. Those are all positive signs!
Fispi I only started to drop dd's feeds last month - she wasn't ready before then and has never been a great eater. It's not consistent though as some days she has been unsettled and asks for milk. Just trying to gradually stretch out the gaps between feedings and distracting with play, water or rice cakes. If he seems happy enough I'm sure it's fine Smile

peardrop2 · 13/10/2014 14:56

Still BfN

AnythingNotEverything · 13/10/2014 16:24

Sorry pear. How long until AF?

AF due yesterday here. Feel kind of heavy like she's on her way but also have a funny feeling like my uterus is very delicate and it hurts when I twist or squash it in any way. That's not normal for pre AF. Still bfn though.

We're off to a wedding at the weekend and I need to know whether I can toast the happy couple or not!
