Over here all breastfeeding TTCers! Welcome to our thread - a place for us to come for support, information and to talk about the extra challenges of TTC while still breastfeeding.

Seeing as I filled up the old thread I thought I should start the new one!

For anyone who is new to the thread or needs a reminder, here are a few links to some useful websites (thanks Waiting for putting these together). I hope I've worked the links properly.

OK I'm off to bed. Earlish night again. Come on ovaries...work your magic ??????

BeanSpr0ut · 05/01/2015 22:38

Oh I don't know, maybe because of that newborn squishy perfect skin and teeny fingers and toes Grin

australopithecus · 06/01/2015 04:04

Hi Bean. Also new on here. DC 9 months but no AF at all since the good old childless days! I'm willing to bet on you getting a bfp before me! Grin

australopithecus · 06/01/2015 04:10

Went 8pm to 4am without caving in on DCs boob-demands and formula went for both feeds last night! Woke up with sore breasts though. Sad

BeanSpr0ut · 06/01/2015 10:15

Took 11 months to conceive my DD so I'm just going to go with the flow this time. I got too obsessed last time! My P Tracker says I'm in my 'fertile' week but my cycle has been getting gradually longer since Lily turned 7 months.
I decided to start thinking about ttc now because all my family's birthdays are around February. DD is a Valentine's baby!

TastyNutsForTea · 06/01/2015 14:57

Hello, can I join you? I'm not quite ttc yet as still waiting for cycle to return, DD is 2.4 yrs and feeds a lot. Keep thinking I'm going to ovulate, never happens though.

Someone was asking how long it takes for ovulation to kick in after weaning/cutting down, I read somewhere that it's about 4 wks.

I'm trying to cut down bf, not really been possible over Christmas but back at work now which has got to help a bit Smile

hideandsqueak · 06/01/2015 17:37

Hi tastynuts! Good luck with the cutting down on feeds! I think being back at work definitely helps..

Apparently there was a mum on This morning who still breastfeeds her 6 year old. I'm hoping my DS has weaned by then!

Hi tasty. Does anyone know if what Tasty read is true? I'm sure most of those on the thread have PhDs in the topic. Here I was hoping it would be wean on day one, and ovulate on day two! SadBlushConfused

TastyNutsForTea · 06/01/2015 18:16

I will look for the reference ...

peardrop2 · 06/01/2015 19:15

Oh my! I can't begin to imagine bf at six years old Shock

I'm so pleased this thread has got busy again!

frazzledtofun · 06/01/2015 19:59

Hello everyone and welcome to new people!

pear I was NewYearNewYou but changed!

tasty that is a really useful stat! I have just cut down (one week so far) to 1 feed a day with my 2yo DD in an effort to get my cycle back so it looks like I could have another 3 weeks and then BAM - ovulation swiftly followed by BFP Wink (Obviously it will happen that quickly).

I can't really imagine still feeding at age 6 but then I didn't set out to feed to age 2. (It was all led by her until this week when I have cruelly deprived her.) So who knows!

Saw two friends today, one with a 2 week old gorgeous new DD and another currently 37 weeks pg. so envious!!

chants it will happen. It will happen. It will happen.

cherrylola · 06/01/2015 20:02

Hi ladies just dropped by to see how you're getting on. Hope there is good news on the horizon for you all.
Meanwhile in my world, 6 weeks ish Pg, today my milk dried up I'm sure and DS is more than a little pissed off about it Confused
I was not prepared for this!

BeanSpr0ut · 06/01/2015 20:30

Oh no cherry I hope your DS adjusts to the lack of milk! Sorry, I'm new to this thread, haven't seen any of your posts. How often was DS feeding?

cherrylola · 06/01/2015 20:34

He was feeding only 1 to 3 times a day since 13 months old, only for sleep. He totally self weaned other than that as he haut got too busy doing other things to be interested in boob anymore! He is still wide awake now!!! Confused

Good luck to you Bean Smile

peardrop2 · 06/01/2015 20:52

Cherry did your milk dry up because you're pregnant? I didn't think that happened so soon. Surprised!

I'm now on cd18 and still nothing on the sticks but I'm really hoping tomorrow as I deffo have a bit of watery cm Blush

cherrylola · 06/01/2015 21:19

I really don't know for sure why it happened just assumed it is because of the pregnancy but I can't even squeeze a drop out! It's actually really sad, I didn't even contemplate it happening and not so abruptly, one day fine one day not Hmm

Good luck Pear keeping everything crossed

peardrop2 · 06/01/2015 22:19

Cherry ~ That's sad Hmm I hope you don't feel guilty. I think if that was me I would feel a little bit guilty even though I shouldn't feel that way. I hope your DS adapts quickly Sad

BeanSpr0ut · 06/01/2015 23:44

Wow, I had never thought about my milk drying up like that. My DD would not be happy. She relys on me for naps aswell as a morning and night feed. It's mainly for comfort but that's how she likes it. I'm lucky in that I'm not back at work until March so I'm hoping to attempt day time weaning in the next few weeks and try getting her to nap by herself (as much as I like snuggling with her on the sofa for a few hours a day). She also doesn't need the bedtime feed, I've been out with her and come home late and DP has put her to bed with no feed and she has slept through.
She cries in a morning until she's found a nipple Grin

BeanSpr0ut · 06/01/2015 23:48

Thinking I really need to start going to sleep earlier....

TastyNutsForTea · 06/01/2015 23:59

It's not the one I saw recently but this article mentions the return of periods 6-8 weeks after reducing / stopping feeds www.llli.org/nb/nbsepoct06p196.html

australopithecus · 07/01/2015 03:53

So by that logic, tasty, one would potentially start ovulating 4 weeks after first stopping/cutting down strongly? Hypothetically at least that means you could catch the first ovulation before the first period? Yes?

peardrop2 · 07/01/2015 13:49

Does anyone else feel like everything is on hold at the moment whilst trying to work out stupid cycles, asking questions like should I stop bf or not...etc. I just feel I can't even except social invites as I've given up drinking and most importantly I don't want to be out if it suddenly turns to 'DTD' time. I'm just feeling really up in the air about everything Confused grumpy and tired ?? CD 19 and still no change on my cbfm but I feel a change downstairs so I am utterly confused! I know the monitor works and the cheapie sticks are not showing anything yet. I didn't have a high fertility day until cd21 last month. I just don't want a repeat of last month when I didn't peak. It is Making me feel glum glum glum Confused sorry for the rant! Grin

hideandsqueak · 07/01/2015 15:57

Pear I know what you mean! At least plenty of people I know are doing dry January so aren't drinking this month anyway. I think I am out this month. cd23 and it looks like AF has started 5 days early... It's a very short cycle for me!

hideandsqueak · 07/01/2015 16:09

6 days early! BF really does play havoc with your system! I was regular as clockwork before. Sigh...

peardrop2 · 07/01/2015 19:43

Oh hide Hmm that sucks! Stupid cycle. Grrrrrrrrr! Does it make you think about stopping bf all together? I am seriously considering cutting down from 2 to 1 feed. Annoyingly it will have to be the morning feed I think as I can't imagine my DS going without a night feed but I would personally prefer to drop the night feed so that I could at least have my freedom in the evening to help compensate the sadness we will both feel Hmm
