Sperm Quality Question - Sex Every Other Day

My dr has told us that we need to have sex every other day over ovulation. We did it Tuesday night (as told to by the dr), nothing Wednesday, then this morning after I had a BFP ovulation test. My question is would the sperm have been better quality if we had given it a few more hours till tonight? I’m worried now we have disadvantaged this cycle…..TTC after MC for a year, this is my last cycle on a combination of drugs before IVF IT HAS TO WORK :)

Honestly I ask myself the exact same question every month and every 'expert' has a different opinion.

The general advice seems to be that if your partner has good sperm motility then sex every day is absolutely fine. If he has low motility they suggest every other day to make sure the sperm has enough time to regenerate in sufficient numbers.

Thanks NewEra! Nothing wrong with his swimmers, just my aging eggs......of course I am panicking, and as you say, every piece of information out there conflicts!

Do you have an ovulation kit? It involves taking your temperature daily - there's a little dip and then a peak when you ovulate, and THAT's when you shoudl dtd. We were told to abstain for a couple of days before ovulation. That advice worked like a dream, and I was pregnant the second month we used that system, after 12 months of trying though that was a long time ago, and advice may have changed

ps - abstaining includes (for the man) enjoying himself by himself too. I had to explain that to DH, which is probably why the method didn't work the first month of trying Blush

I've been endlessly scanned to tell me when I will ovulate. Usually I have a trigger shot but this protocol has seen the drug dosages increased which has led to more follicles than usual, so to avoid over stimulation I have not had the trigger and thats why i used a normal ovulation kit. I was supposed to have sex today but im not sure if was supposed to be this morning........

I was so cross this morning as I was trying to help people on here by mentioning a fertility monitor I have just started using that has pinpointed by ovulation beautifully when Clearblue was gaining miserably. Of course my thread got pulled for advertising so that failed lol.

I now know I ovulate on cd12. I have no idea really how to time sex well as every technique we try seems to fail lol. Least I know I actually ovulate though!!! Which has cheered me up no end Grin

*failing

Im CD11 or 12 too and have been for the last couple of months. Thats why I have been told to do 'it' every other day by my dr, to ensure that there are always some swimmers ready!! The rationale behind the every other day is that the sperm improves supposedly...

Well my understanding is the two days before ovulation are more important than the day itself. We DTD day 10, then this morning on day 12. Day 11 would probably have been better but I didn't know I was going to get the klaxon going off this morning lol, caught me by surprise!!

Good luck xx

Oh gosh I'm sure I'm allowed to say. I think they just got people reporting the thread I started about it as it must have read like an advert. It wasn't, I was just relieved I actually DO ovulate as opks and the CBFM were making me feel like I didn't.

It's called Ovusense. It's not cheap and is ideal for people who have irregular periods and also those with PCOS.
