I had my nexplanon implant removed 10 days ago as we are just starting to think about ttc dc2. This was on the Friday and we certainly weren't madly active over the weekend (although sometimes it only takes once I suppose!) but I can't work out if I'm imagining it or not but I feel like I've got sore boobs and have had that strange metallic taste already. As I wasn't really having periods with the implant, when is the earliest I would be able to test? If af doesn't appear first...

I'd wait 14-16 days after you last had sex.

It could be your hormones settling after the implant removal. I had a mirena out a few weeks back and I'm exactly the same - sore boobs, very sensitive to tastes and smells, cramps..aaaand...no period.
I'm 90% sure this us just the system getting back to baseline, but it is odd. I've been chucking up like a champion as well...

Anyway, to your question. Very hard to say until you've had one period, but err on the side of caution (no booze etc ) just in case.... And as HH says above, 14 ish days from conception to a positive test. Bear in mind that HCG levels vary a LOT between women and pregnancies so if you get a negative, but no or very light period and you have a gut feeling, go to your docs. I know two people who had 4 and 5 months of negative pee sticks !
