Hi Guys, This may sound bold but has anyone just had sex everyday to conceive? I've done alot of research and my periods are irregular and everything is just a bit discouraging. I've been off of all birth control for almost 5 months and nothing!!! Just wondering about others success stories.

Sounds as good a method as any!

NotAnOtter · 24/09/2006 22:52

i always do when ttc for around 10-14 days it does seem to work as four times i have conceived on first attempt! hth

cece · 24/09/2006 22:53

the month I concieved dd we did it every day for a month - it was the 7th month of trying. hth.

Gillian76 · 24/09/2006 22:55

I'm sure DH would approve of this method!

My periods are all over the place and I'm not convinced I'm ovulating.

cece · 24/09/2006 22:56

I think your GP can do some sort o fblood test to check if you are ov or not. There are a lot of people on here who are alot more expert on these matters than I am - sure someone will be along soon....

I know of at least one friend who ovulated whilst menstruating. I know I'm most fertile just after menstruating. So, go for it. I didn't realise you could ovulate whilst menstruating but she swears that's how she got her 3. First was a mistake and other 2 planned. I think hers is just at the end iykwim.

Apparently doing it every other day is enough to keep a 'supply' in the right place waiting for when you do ovulate .

When trying for dd we did it every day for about 3 weeks - I have a long cycle and wasn't 100% sure when I ovulated so wanted to make certain I didn't miss it. It did work for us though.

I'm glad to hear of everybody's opinion, I think I might try and keep things simple. Haven't been trying as long as others but not sure when I ovulate. I just finished a period does that mean I could be ovulating. Does your mucus change if you ovulate after a period or during?

olihan's experience sounds much easier, just came off of my period so I'll give it a shot for 3 weeks. Keep you posted!

How irregular are your periods exactly?.

If your periods are irregular this can be sometimes caused by hormonal imbalances (a condition called polycystic ovaries is a common culprit). These same imbalances can affect ovulation. If ovulation is problematic then making love every day will not make any real difference.

A blood test can be done to assess your hormone levels properly. If you get this done ensure that both your LH (luteinising hormone) and follicle stimulation hormone (FSH) levels are compared. Both should be the same but if LH is higher than FSH this is one possible indicator as to why your periods are irregular.

Having intercourse every day is not a good idea for a number of reasons. You are placing pressure on yourselves to make love when perhaps you don't feel like it. This is something you truly do not need. You do not need also to make love every single day in order to conceive; two or three times a week throughout the cycle is fine.

I would talk to the GP about your irregular periods and get a blood test done.

attila, thanks for your advise. I think that I'll use it. my cycle from July to Aug was 28 days and from Aug to Sept was 35 days. I had a one day bleed in the middle of the cyle as well.

oh, forgot to mention that I was on depo for approx 10 years. I have been off this now for over 1 year now, so if this is the cause of being irregular then you would think that it would eventually become regular, especially after 1 year.
