Ovulation kit- read correctly?

Hi I'm new to mumsnet and wonder if anyone can help.

I've used an ovulation test for 5 days all with clear control line but no hint of a test line. Today on the 6th day I have a very clear test line but it's a bit lighter than the control one.

The instructions say that the test line must be the same or darker but it's seems odd that the timing is right and the result looks so obviously different from the first 5.
I know that on a pregnancy test, how dark or faint the test line is doesn't matter.

Any thoughts?
Thanks

Hi jess I've been using boots ones, also had faint pink line one day, dark the next but not as dark as the test line. Also for me at the right time so maybe it's normal?? Really hoping so as I'm not really sure if I ovulate very often. I had other ovulation symptoms at the same time - cramping and ewcm, so am definitely going to be positive and hope that was it for me this cycle. Did you have any other symptoms?x

Thank you. Will have to wait and see how things go I guess. Fingers crossed for all.

For interest, here are 2 of my 5 completely blank tests with the one I wondered might be positive.

Fwiw, I also got that colour on Friday, on Thursday it was a bit paler, on Saturday it was also paler. Sunday clear again. I can only assume I ovulated on Friday as I had other symptoms. My bbt also went up on Sunday and continues to rise today. I think if you have dodgy cycles (like mine) it's good to chart as well as using opks, hope this helps. As pointed out if in doubt dtd!! Might be worth keep testing as some women get lh surges at various points in their cycle. Good luck.

Thanks, you too!

Sorry I don't have an answer but I thought I'd just post to say that I had the same. I used the Boots test last month, had very faint lines for a few days, then a definite but still pale line, then a line that looked very like yours and then back to very faint the next day.
I thought maybe the peak in LH was later in the day after the dark one, (I tested in the mornings as there's no way I can go four hours otherwise), and then gone again by the next day. I haven't got my cycles sorted yet but judging from when AF turned up, it would seem it was the right time. It's also possible that I'm just not ovulating. I'll be trying again from the end of this week and if the same happens then I'll probably try the more expensive ones next month.

Thanks, that is interesting. Shame we can't be definitive.

Jessica fwiw this is the reason I started to use the clearblue digitals. I buy them off amazon so a slight discount to the shops. They're crazy expensive, but I found trying look at lines didn't work for me. At least, mine never got darker! I know where I stand with a digital screen.

Having said that, still not pregnant!!!

Good luck
